The Telecommunications Technician is responsible for installing new electrical systems and repairing existing electrical systems while adhering to all Company rules and procedures, as well as national, state, and local electrical regulations. Supports commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential operations.

Qualifications:

• When a department is short-staffed or is experiencing an increase in workload, it is critical that employees be able to provide backup and/or support to one another.
• Perform routine maintenance on unified communication platform equipment, including SBCs, Analog gateways, Skype edge pools, SIP connectivity, AudioCodes ARM Routing, headsets & management software, handsets & desktop application integration, desktop soft clients, Polycom conference phones, analog phones, analog circuits, UAT.
• Research new technologies to find out which ones are ready to be used, and then give management and staff detailed written recommendations.
• Connectivity systems, including low-voltage cabling; audio visual; IP Telephony System; telephones; voicemail and other communications systems; low-voltage cabling Prepare orders for telephones, data cabling, and backup power supply, as well as other network infrastructure necessities.
• Serve as the primary service owner for the legacy phone system by doing routine maintenance, in-field cross-connections, troubleshooting voice quality issues, and working with the legacy support contractor to solve problems while giving excellent customer service.
• Customers are taught how to properly use and operate computer gear and software by the company’s support staff. Work orders, emails, and phone calls are handled by this role.
• Sets up voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables, installing telecommunications equipment like routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, and alarm and fire-suppression systems.
• Transporting and moving computer hardware, peripherals, and tools. Moving physical plant components such as equipment, supplies, and materials is one of the key tasks of this position.
• Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs important telephone systems Installs, maintains, and repairs distribution racks, cables, terminals, grounding, and wiring on a range of communications systems.
• Fixes desktop hardware and software, computer, network, server, telecom, and printer issues.

Skills:

• Ability to install and repair structured, high-speed cabling and patch panel terminations, as well as campus vertical and horizontal copper cabling solutions.
• Previous familiarity with voice telephony equipment is desirable. Experience with session border controllers, analog getaways, Windows and Linux server infrastructure, VoIP/SIP troubleshooting tools, T1, E1, fraud analysis, and remediation, Internet Protocol voice routing, IVR, ACD, chatbots, PCAP, Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, Cisco based routing/switching, QOS, and MOS is helpful.
• Requires the capacity to evaluate and/or categorize data and/or information in order to use it effectively Analyzing data for the aim of identifying possible or real interactions and linkages requires judgment in data categorization and reference to established criteria.
• This job requires a high school diploma as well as five (5) years of relevant work experience. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or telecommunications is recommended for candidates.
• You’ll need to be able to work with and manipulate various pieces of equipment and/or materials in order to carry out your job’s most basic responsibilities.
