The Center is seeking an exceptional individual for the position of Curator. This position provides support in the oversight and management of the museum’s collections and staff. Work is completed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Chief Curator.

Qualifications:

• Help out with the museum’s volunteer program by assisting with recruitment, assigning volunteers to tasks that suit them, and making sure they receive the training they need.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects, conducting research, coordinating exhibitions and loans, and working to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Meet the intellectual, physical, and social/emotional needs of a wide range of visitors to uphold the museum system’s commitment to diversity, equality, accessibility, and inclusion in its programming, staff interactions with the public, and general public interactions.
• You can reach the populace via phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings. For this role, you need to be able to conduct basic reference interviews and comprehend standard operating procedures. This person is responsible for ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in the pursuit of precision and completeness. According to established procedure, all communications are documented.
• Integral to the long-term growth and management of collections, data, or exhibition
• Deals with repository agreements and gift deeds through negotiation. Reviews transactions, negotiates loans, and ensures adherence to rules and regulations.
• Maintains familiarity with current research methods and historical debates, answers questions from interested parties, and searches for ways to incorporate historical research into programming.
• Participate in the routine operations of the collection management section. The museum is a non-profit institution that maintains a collection of antiques, artwork, and archives.
• Keep in touch with local businesses, nonprofits, universities, and government agencies on a regular basis.
• Independently investigate the cultural and historical relevance of computers throughout history, as well as their design and technological features.

Skills:

• Capacity to function effectively in a group setting, fostering and sustaining positive relationships with coworkers, volunteers, and the public
• A degree from an accredited university in museum studies or a closely related discipline.
• Keep a healthy work-life balance, refrain from taking things personally, accept constructive criticism, and help build team camaraderie. You’ll also need a healthy dose of self-assurance and drive to succeed in an executive post.
• The successful candidate will have expertise in public speaking, the ability to connect effectively with internal teams, and a thorough working knowledge of museum best practices.
• Metadata creation skills, the ability to build digital collections and finding aids, and an understanding of other aspects of describing archives are necessary.
