Perform lab duties to help technical/pathology professionals provide reliable test findings. These include phlebotomy, quality control, specimen handling and preparation, equipment maintenance, testing, and reporting.

Qualifications:

• Handling client-related queries and issues in a way that is polite and efficient, while adhering to the standards and processes of the department, including the scheduling of complicated texts.
• Do quality control for the tests and record it. When results are beyond limits, tell the Medical Technologist or Lab Manager.
• Evaluate each request for a laboratory test to determine the right quantity and kind of containers that are required to permit distribution to the relevant laboratory sections and reference laboratories.
• The procedure of taking blood samples from patients is performed. Work with lab and pathology staff to plan and schedule field repairs and perform advanced troubleshooting on lab equipment as required.
• You may handle infectious or carcinogenic materials while handling, controlling, and monitoring specimens. Maintain an inventory and order supplies as required.
• Assist with infection control compliance by keeping a clean and sterile workplace, including daily lab cleaning and biohazard bag emptying.
• Properly record all tests and diagnoses using proper laboratory forms (see below). Produce labels for the forms and specimen containers, as well as lab requisition forms, to complete the lab (s).
• Blood, urine, and other specimens as directed by the physician should be collected using standard venipuncture and capillary procedures (for adults and children).
• Become well-versed with the local computer system’s menu choices, including the ability to instruct technical staff on more advanced computer skills.
• Maintain the integrity of specimens by using authorized laboratory practices as you prepare, package, and deliver them to the proper lab.

Skills:

• People usually learn how to do phlebotomy and skin punctures after at least six (6) months of experience, but ASCP Certification is preferred. A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the requirements of the insurance company.
• Capability of lifting and carrying a minimum of 30 pounds, sitting for lengthy periods of time, and walking between office buildings are all required. Capability to deal with patients, significant others, and family members hailing from a variety of communities.
• Having the ability to execute venipuncture in an efficient and successful manner, Having the ability to communicate in a cooperative manner with both patients and staff, Abilities in organizing work according to importance and managing time effectively
• A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Associate degree in Natural Science/Allied Health desirable, or current enrollment in Medical Laboratory Science program, lab experience preferable. Medical terminology and keyboarding abilities are desirable.
• To accomplish obligations, you must grasp lab materials, solutions, and media. Microsoft Excel and electronic medical records are required for data input (EMRs).
