The purpose of the hospital to assist people is dependent on the Patient Care Associate position. The patient care associate is making sure each patient is comfortable getting treatment and seeking health by following through with helping the provider and providing care in a compassionate and nonjudgmental way, which is crucial in ensuring the patient returns for ongoing care.

Qualifications:

• Depending on what the needs of the department are, the individual is responsible for a variety of general clerical tasks. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, responding to calls made through the telephone and call lights, as well as greeting patients, visitors, and anyone that come to the facility.
• As needed by unit requirements, performs general clerical activities including, but not limited to, answering telephones and call lights and welcoming patients and visitors.
• Support and contribute to a safe and compliant workplace by disposing of biohazardous items and instruments, such as needles, urine specimens, and collecting cups, in an appropriate manner.
• Facilitate patient access to suitable prescriptions by engaging with insurance companies and securing preauthorization for medications. When preauthorization is rejected, file appeals to insurance companies to overturn rejections.
• Attending seminars, training programs, in-service meetings, and reading modern literature contribute to personal growth. Sharing responsibility for maintaining competencies (both the individual and the institution).
• Perform administrative chores such as making phone calls or answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments, obtaining supplies that are required for treatment, and tasks that further aid clinicians such as scribing in order to contribute to a well-functioning and efficient office.
• Assess each patient by asking them about their visit and evaluating their weight, vital signs, and other clinical indicators.
• Under the instruction of a trained nurse, performs a wide range of fundamental patient care tasks. Notifies the registered nurse of any changes in the patient’s physical or mental health. To help nursing staff react to different emergency patient scenarios.
• Draw blood, operate the centrifuge, collect urine for drug screenings, pregnancy testing, alcohol tests, and administer injections safely and appropriately, as directed by the physician.
• Exhibits concern for patient privacy and comfort, as well as an interest in the patient’s success. Explains procedures and processes to patients and their families within the limits of their training and ability. Preserves secrecy.

Skills:

• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation OR basic life support as well as fluency in oral and written English (BLS OR CPR)
• Nurses who have worked in an outpatient setting that focused on primary care, substance abuse, or mental health should have a current CPR or BLS certification.
• Acceptable to the Lab Director and fit for the facility’s workload, successful completion of a Department of Health-required Phlebotomy training program
• A certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administration of electrocardiographs, as well as a facility-based training program successfully completed.
• High school diploma or GED and CNA certification or 1st semester of LPN or RN school.
