Qualifications:

• Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, uses clinical interview techniques, objective assessments, and psychological testing to figure out what services are best for the patient.
• Assists with the preparation of meals for patients on the unit and ensures that the kitchen and dining area are kept clean and organized. satisfies the patients’ specific nutritional requirements in a suitable manner and demonstrates an understanding of how to operate the relevant pieces of biomedical equipment for the unit.
• Provide care coordination or case management services, including information and referral, education, consulting, appointment scheduling, and meeting participation.
• Counselors are responsible for helping the Lead Therapist (a mental health professional) provide family-based treatment to assigned clients and their families, usually using the “structural family therapy” paradigm of systemic intervention.
• knows what the unit’s physical plant needs are and tells an RN about any problems or problems that might happen with the physical plant. Finds and gets things that are needed based on instructions.
• Participates in an interactive process that enables consumers and their family members to define specific objectives for family-based services to keep consumers in their homes, under the direction of the Lead Therapist.
• Additional therapeutic methods include psychoeducational therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, recreational therapy, parent skill training, assertiveness training, modeling, coping skills training, and crisis intervention under the leadership of the Lead Therapist.
• Assigned tasks include completing sections of paperwork for the consumer’s medical record pertaining to specified objectives ranging from admission through discharge as well as after-care planning.
• Effective under the direction of the Lead Therapist, helps individuals and families establish working connections with important members of the local community, educational and social services systems. Works with other service providers to help customers and their families get the services they need.
• Demonstrates competence to report patient abuse/neglect in accordance with hospital policy by identifying and addressing ethical concerns in care.

Skills:

• Knowledgeable, skilled, and committed to mental health, Able to examine client data and develop interventions License and insurance are needed.
• Understanding the psychiatric group process, treatment links, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, and violent behavior crisis management.
• Experience producing therapeutic goods is a bonus. Working understanding of fast, short-term treatment (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy or solution focused therapy).
• Licensed Graduate Professional Counselors can do graduate counseling for two years with the help of a supervisor who is allowed to do so.
• Graduate degree in a clinical profession such as mental health counseling, social work, or psychology. Two (2) years of clinical experience in a relevant field is required for those who want to practice.
