The Lead Carpenter is tasked with providing operational assistance to customers in the course of their rehabilitation projects. A qualified candidate will be in charge of a large number of projects and will also serve as a mentor and teacher to carpenters with less experience. As part of a large-scale building team, they’re fantastic. Carpenters with advanced training have a thorough understanding of all relevant tools and equipment, as well as how to properly install commercial building materials. Shrink-wrapping is one of their areas of expertise; they are familiar with the process of sizing and guiding the installation.

Qualifications:

  • Exhibit and provide outstanding guest services to all visitors, users, dealers, and internal partners. Participate in and sometimes lead meetings and training sessions pertaining to guest services.
  • It is compatible with materials such as drywall, wood, plastic, and fiberglass, among others. Lays out work using a square, measuring tape, or ruler to measure the items or distances involved in the job.
  • Carpenters and assistants are typically under the supervision of the incumbent, who lays out, directs and assists with the full range of skilled carpentry work as outlined in the series overview; instructs others in safety rules to ensure that rules are observed; selects, prepares and maintains stock materials for jobs; inspects carpentry work to ensure that it meets quality requirements and specifications; and maitains stock materials in the warehouse.
  • As directed by the Facilities Engineer and Lead Carpenter, prepare for the event and assist with fabrication and facilities needs. Develop and maintain customer loyalty.
  • Use different tools and materials in different situations to build (wood framing, metal framing, CDX-walnut veneer, drywall, fiberglass, etc.).
  • Read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical (MEP) drawings and plans. Verify the accuracy of field measurements and the structural integrity of the building; notify the superintendent of any discrepancies.
  • Because the layout will have an impact on your career long after the assignment is over, it is critical that you pay attention to it and execute it appropriately.
  • Serve as the representation of the firm on the job site, and take ultimate responsibility for the quality, safety, financial, and time-related performance of the project.
  • Stay on top of any concerns or delays that might affect the project’s budget or schedule by communicating with your Project Manager on a regular basis.
  • Lead crew and work directly with subcontractors to ensure that each project is done on time and on (or under) budget while meeting the best quality requirements in the business.

Skills:

  • Experience in light commercial construction, a high school graduation or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), and a diploma from a recognized trade school or training that is similar are all necessary for this employment. It is necessary for a person to be able to do a number of jobs, such as climbing ladders and scaffolding and crawling into tight areas. This requires a person to be able to lift at least 90 pounds.
  • The ability to manage projects or sections of projects, with at least five years of experience working as a staff carpenter. Possession of the capacity to oversee and coordinate the work of third-party vendors and subcontractors.
  • Possess a working grasp of efficient management approaches and methods. Accurately estimate the cost of a task, as well as the supplies and materials required; develop a list of materials; ensure that work is done in order; keep records; and produce more complicated reports are among the skills required for a project manager to be successful.
  • One year of experience as a journeyman carpenter, which included coordinating work and having a good understanding of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in rough and finished carpentry, as well as the different types and grades of wood and hand and power tools used in carpentry.
  • The ability to work outside in all kinds of weather is a must. A valid driver’s license and insurance company underwriting standards must be met in order to participate in this program. Pre-employment drug test is required.
