Salary : $ 29.03 per hour.

Qualifications:

  • Assisting with the design process from the very beginning to the very end, including but not limited to attending meetings and design consultations, programming, space planning, site visits, selecting finishes and furnishings, presenting designs, coordinating with vendors, and negotiating pricing, as well as managing design installations and maintaining relationships with clients.
  • Monitor government space design and development contractors. Choose contractors based on project scope. Prepare scope of work and initiate request for services with designated contractor, prepare detailed justification for selection, monitor progress of contracted projects, enforce contract responsibilities, document contract actions, review and approve deliverables for compliance with contract, processes partial or final payment based on adequacy of services rendered, and amends original delivery order to meet new or revised requirements.
  • It is necessary to ensure that the information on orders is filled out properly, that deposits and fees are collected, that customer records are organized, and that research into client payments and delivery is carried out.
  • Perform a number of substantial, complicated, and sensitive projects of varying size and scale that often run simultaneously and entail on-going communication with the senior personnel of client agencies.
  • Pre-Design and Programming: Interpret customer requirements via interviews, on-site visits, and/or meetings with clients. Assist the customer in understanding the breadth of services needed, the complexity of services and deliverables needed, as well as the budget and timeline needed.
  • When working on a commercial project, several areas of interior design, such as the layout, the usage of furniture and equipment, color schemes, and the coordination of color, should all be taken into consideration.
  • Perform requirements development by inspecting and surveying tenant agency tasks to achieve optimal space usage. Housing, phase and stacking plans can also be necessary in this respect. Data gathering and quantitative analysis are used to calculate the amount of square footage needed, as well as qualitative analysis to identify the lines of communication and work flow that are necessary for the client program. For the most complicated projects, identify special purpose space and specific needs, and do extra in-depth investigation if necessary.
  • Have professional home consultations set up so that you may receive personalized room design recommendations. Sample fabrics, furniture, tables, and other items should be offered as part of these consultations, and the benefits of working with a professional should also be discussed.
  • Assess the design purpose, such as floor layouts with reflected ceilings, color schemes, finishes, and door and hardware schedules, as well as telecommunications and electrical specs and plans. Cost estimating skills may be used to develop a budget and verify contractor charges. Design intent plans must be followed by a Contracting officer representative (COR). Change orders are reviewed as required, and assistance with the project is offered as needed.
  • Consult with client-agency officials to discuss services, methodology, and office design. Discuss and establish project timetable to fulfill client/team build-out requirements. Assist client agency workers and contractor with agency space development. Resolves any design difficulties for the client agency and assures adherence to design guidelines and space allocation standards. Present oral, textual, and visual suggestions to client-agency authorities throughout space planning and interior design to get permissions.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of several Federal procurement policies and processes; Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), including special knowledge of streamlined acquisition procedures; and sources necessary to create and award small buy contracts for interior design and associated services.
  • a working knowledge of cutting-edge approaches for space planning and interior design, including the capacity to change normal procedures and use cutting-edge strategies in order to solve a variety of challenges.
  • Ability to create and deliver effective visual representations through oral, written, and graphic communication, including the ability to make working drawings.
  • Skill in computer-aided drafting in order to produce design intent plans; and the capacity to connect with contractors through the electronic entry of information on ideas. Both of these skills are required.
  • There must be a solid understanding of the concepts involved in office management in order to plan and carry out complicated projects in these areas as well as analyze proposals from other staff members or in-house contractors and make appropriate revisions.
