As a member of the department, you will contribute to the department’s professional expertise and participate in the analysis of planned projects in the City, such as landscape plans and irrigation plans. Site inspections and construction administration will be your responsibility to ensure that all work is done in line with the city’s regulations. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with both internal and external departments on landscape code upgrades, as well as providing new design concepts.

Qualifications:

• Examine and document the site to ensure it complies with the approved final landscaping and irrigation designs before issuing an occupancy certificate or releasing financial assurance funds.
• Supervisors and organizers are responsible for overseeing and organizing the work of consultants, as well as creating performance standards and budget estimations, as well as making progress payment reviews.
• Field investigations are conducted to examine the present situation, review existing reports and data, take inventory of existing landscaping and improvement projects, gather field measurements and identify development limitations and opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with other departments, board offices as well as community organizations and other stakeholders to plan and conduct public meetings, public hearings and internal meetings for park projects.
• Individuals, community organizations, department agencies, and public officials submit requests, recommendations, complaints, and proposals for design work at County park facilities.
• Inspect hillside overlay properties for conformance with disturbance restriction fence, landscape retention or removal and onsite grading and preservation zones
• Assemble an architectural and engineering team that will collaborate to develop a sustainable and resilient design that will meet regulatory standards while also adding value to the client’s bottom line.
• Verification of compliance with zoning code criteria of all final landscape and irrigation plan assessments via collaboration between planning staff and other departments
• The evaluation and inspection of facility and site conditions, ADA compliance assessments, narrative scoping programs for construction projects with program requirements and cost estimates, and narrative scoping programs for construction projects with program requirements, the landscape architect assists the department with everything from construction administration and inspections to field investigations to get information for design or facilities-related work.
• The ability and initiative to produce innovative and aesthetically pleasing design solutions, as well as skill in creating construction documentation using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and LandFX are required.

Skills:

• Oversees the creation of given contract plans, specifications, and estimates, bid packages, and other contract papers as necessary for assigned construction projects.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape architecture; drafting techniques and practices; planting and building materials, as well as their proper use in the design and execution of landscape projects
• Design and construction techniques for landscape architecture based on modern technology, design ideas, and certain technical principles.
• Multitasking skills, including the ability to self-manage schedules based on project manager requirements or milestones, are a must for this position.
• A bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related field is necessary. One year of public agency experience is preferred but not needed. Work experience may be used in place of a four-year degree.
