Students qualified to participate in the College’s Title III Strengthening Institutions programme are supported by the Retention Specialist. Students who are first-generation college students are the target of the project’s efforts, which aim to design and implement a comprehensive, college-wide strategy to addressing the needs of first-generation students. Responsibility also includes academic counseling with students to ensure appropriate course selections to meet program requirements; assistance in accessing academic and support services to address deficiencies and issues that could impact retention; keeping records of student meetings and recommendations; maintaining student data for grant reporting; collaborating with college staff; attending meetings of the project; and

Qualifications:

  • Provides prospective and current technical college students with information on state and federal financial aid, registration, career options, program choice or change, educational requirements, college policies and procedures, state policies, etc., throughout the student’s academic career.

  • Check the retention requests against the cases that have been received to make sure everything is in order and has been sent. All cases that have been received should be recorded and put in order. When field staff asks, pull case notes.
  • Workers who achieve success are expected to take responsibility for their actions. Other duties, objectives, tasks, or responsibilities may be included in a separate set of performance requirements for the position.

Skills:

  • having a solid grasp of the federal background investigation process, including the regulations and criteria that govern security clearance background checks
  • Confidentiality in dealing with consumer information is a must. As indicated by past work experience, the candidate must be self-motivated and results-driven.
  • The ability to effectively deescalate issues and find innovative solutions to problems is essential for client retention. In order to save clients’ time and money, be aware of and use the authorized resolution paths.
  • Handle incoming customer calls from the CSC and other departments; or call back customers who have been put on the customer cancel call-back list. Have a thorough understanding of operational systems, service packages and pricing, and basic pest control procedures.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or sales is preferred but not required for this position. It is needed that you have between one and three years of successful sales experience, and prior B2B sales or service knowledge in the telecommunications industry is highly recommended.
