In the Accounting and Finance Department, a Junior Financial Analyst is an entry-level post. The Controller is immediately responsible for this role. It’s ideal for anybody who wants to learn all there is to know about accounting and finance. The position gives you great hands-on experience with a number of techniques. The applicant for this role will be able to acquaint herself/himself with budget variance analysis and participate in the implementation of earned value management. Processing payable vouchers and payments are also part of the job description.

Qualifications:

• Ensure that all departmental guidelines are supplied on schedule and in the right format. Account reconciliations and critical dates are regularly monitored and updated. Invoices are processed, and journal entries are made available.
• During the Operational/Organizational Assessment or other organizational realignments or corrections, it is anticipated that more FMD activities would be identified.
• Support the implementation of new budget and financial initiatives that may otherwise have a negative impact on the business’s day-to-day operations, within the limits of time constraints.
• Additionally, this program handles new hiring and layoffs, as well as accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations, and timesheets.
• Keep track of your promises, responsibilities, and expenditures to verify that the actions you are carrying out are meeting the periodic objectives they were set to achieve. Contribute to the assigned projects’ financial execution as well as the formulation of financial strategies for such projects.
• The majority of job descriptions for financial analysts need candidates to have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; expertise with data querying and management technologies is highly useful (Access, SQL, Business Objects)
• Incorporates the effects of alternative finance structures, utility rate structures, tax policies and Federal and state policy supports into the project business case. Advises on large-scale renewable energy project preparations by the government.
• Assist with monthly/quarterly forecasting, capacity management, accruals, costing, and labor optimization.
• Contribute to the development of the budget as well as the strategic plans. Maintain communication with all levels of management during the completion of all budgets, Conduct a variance analysis by comparing actual outcomes to budgeted ones.
• Strong analytical skills and real-world experience are used to look at the business and financial aspects of a project. Integrates a thorough life-cycle cost assessment to help the GOV evaluate opportunities and find important business risks.

Skills:

• CPA or Master’s degree desired but not essential; Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a similar subject. Extensive functional understanding of Word, Excel and Outlook applications.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting/ finance; financial analysis skills is a bonus. Experience in a consumer goods retail setting is preferred.
• Experience analyzing energy usage, energy rates, life cycle cost analysis, and techniques used in building business cases for large scale private investments is required.
• A cheerful attitude, great analytical and problem-solving talents, and the ability to work successfully in a collaborative environment are just a few of the traits required to thrive in this role.
• An advantage would be knowledge of Navy/DoD financial management systems, or at least five years of professional experience in program/project management in DOD procurement, with evidence of proven and specialized knowledge.
