The Clerk’s Office’s County Clerk is an entry-level clerical post that reports to the Court Supervisor and Court Manager. In compliance with established rules, regulations, and policies, the Deputy Clerk does clerical work related to legal proceedings for the Clerk.

  • Callers will be able to talk with someone who can answer their queries or point them in the correct direction, and their conversations will be recorded for later use.
  • Regularly attend and actively engage in meetings with coworkers. The department’s operations, performance, and services may be improved via the feedback and suggestions of the department’s staff.
  • liaison between the County Court at Law Judge and his staff and other county departments and agencies for paperwork, information and case status in civil division docket matters.
  • Spreads information about the rules and procedures of the County courts by answering questions and sending court records, court orders, and other legal documents to the right court officials, lawyers, the media, and people who are interested.
  • Scan all of the documents that have been recorded, such as birth and death certificates as well as marriage licenses; carry out the verification process and carefully examine the captured image for accuracy, completeness, and image quality; manually index the records after the documents have been scanned.
  • Inactive voter files are updated and maintained, as are active voter files. Voters are registered and added to the database. This data includes everything from addresses to precincts to tax codes.
  • Reviews every judge-signed orders to see whether the County Clerk’s office must take additional action, and does so. Sends court papers pertaining to causes of action on the day’s docket.
  • Birth and death certificates, as well as marriage licenses, are among the services that are reviewed, with the application to supply certified copies of birth certificates, death certificates, and marriage licenses being assessed for legality or correctness.
  • This role is responsible for the examination and processing of files received through the e-filing system into the case management software in probate, civil, and family law matters. In addition, the person in this job is in charge of handling case fee payments.
  • Maintains relevant files and records, scans and copies documents as needed, and checks to make sure files are full and correct using computerized data entry equipment and other word processing and file management applications.


  • Under and including 1 year of relevant experience with a high school certificate or an equivalent An adequate combination of education and experience may be replaced for the fundamental roles described above.
  • Specialized business knowledge that may be utilized to establish and execute policies, processes and technology as well as to fulfill the City’s business plans
  • Advanced understanding of government activities, including state, county, and local election, meeting, ethics, and legal advertising standards.
  • Skill with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and other office software needed to run the department. Skill with giving good customer service.
  • Capability of efficiently presenting information and responding to County Officials, representatives of the media, workers, and members of the general public, The ability to do addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal values for all units of measure.
