Job Description

You will be supervised by a manager, dispatcher, or trainer as a bus driver. In this position, you will be responsible for driving a school bus or van along approved bus routes, carrying students. A School Bus driver may also carry a variety of customers on charter excursions.

Qualifications:

• Keep hold of your vehicle keys, fueling slip receipts, and other pre- and post-trip paperwork that your supervisor may want.
• Maintain, read, and comprehend route sheets, including time adjustments, and report any changes to the supervisor promptly. Maintain solid work habits by completing daily tasks and additional excursions on schedule and with little absence.
• Assure that the vehicle and its specialized equipment are completely examined before to and after each journey, and submit all required papers to administration.
• Conduct vehicle inspections before to, during, and after each trip, following proper procedures, and completing all required forms and reports. Utilize safe and responsible practices to operate the vehicle and stop to enable people to board and exit.
• Using safe and responsible practices, operate an adapted transportation lift to board and release challenged persons.
• Take great effort to ensure that passengers can get to their destinations in a timely and safe manner by operating a designated route.
• Maintain a decent appearance by clothing correctly for the profession, grooming nicely, and maintaining enough cleanliness.
• Make sure that the assigned vehicle and all of its component parts are maintained in compliance with the company’s standards in order to ensure the safety of the vehicle, decrease wear, and extend its lifespan.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic allocated bus at all times by cleaning, wiping all seats and the roof, sweeping, and washing the bus.
• Maintain a cooperative attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, passengers, always promoting company goodwill.

Skills:

• Before kids load or unload the bus, step on the emergency brake pedal or depress the air brake button.
• The ideal candidate would be flexible, a team player, and willing to step in as needs arise.
• Lift, store, dismantle, and reassemble wheelchairs and other ambulatory devices for passengers weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Class B or higher commercial driver’s license required, as well as endorsements for passenger and school bus driving.
• A minimum of three years of verifiable driving experience is necessary. There have been no more than two moving violations and one preventable accident in the previous three years.
