Qualifications:

• Restores concrete floors and walls by patching them with cementitious materials like sand, colored sand, and cement.
• Physical labor such as operating heavy machinery, shoveling materials, picking up trash, and installing signage are all examples of the kinds of work needed to back up departmental initiatives.
• Leveling off the top layer of freshly poured concrete on a surface (such a sidewalk or wall). The concrete’s hardness and waterproofness are both enhanced by the use of compounds.
• You are given a variety of forms, such as reports and work orders, to fill out; after doing so, you either forward or save the data.
• Monitoring equipment operations for efficiency and safety; reporting faulty equipment; keeping cleanliness and order in the workplace are all part of equipment and tool maintenance.
• Vibrating machinery used to compress freshly poured concrete fixtures, such as anchor bolts and steel plates, are set into place in the wet material. A sponge rubber float or some burlap will work for this purpose.
• This occupation requires the use of a wide variety of tools, machines, and equipment. Such tools and machinery include backhoes, front-end loaders, tamping machines, air compressors, jackhammers, concrete saws and mallets, shovels, rakes, and mechanics’ tools. Forms and implements made of concrete are just a couple of examples.
• Verifies the soundness of the concrete forms, then aligns and adjusts the forms to the necessary pitch and depth.
• Work on various Public Works projects and assist with the production/finishing of concrete areas are the primary duties of the Concrete Finisher.
• Telephones and two-way radios are common forms of communication among workers, government officials, citizens, and others. Transmission, reception, and response to information and messages occur.

Skills:

• Relocate objects weighing between 30 and 150 pounds with the help of others.
• Possessing strong social, organizational, and communicative skills is essential.
• The ability to follow instructions and collaborate productively with peers and superiors is essential in this role.
• Required education and experience for this position include a high school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience working with concrete or bricks, or equivalent training and experience.
• Be prepared to work long hours (70 or more per week) and various shifts (days, nights, and overnights) throughout the summer.
