Job Description

A physician or other health professional directs a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) while they carry out standard clinical and administrative duties. Drawing blood, preparing patients for examination, taking vital signs and documenting them, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor operations as directed by a doctor or other healthcare professional are all examples of clinical duties. The CMA represents the practice and enhances patient safety, privacy, and overall satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Communicates with patients and other providers as directed by the supervising physician or health practitioner.
• Administer medication to inmates/residents directly under the supervision of the Health Services Administrator.
• Helps with therapies as directed by the provider under the direction of the provider or a trained nurse. Performs a few clinical tasks.
• Work with insurance companies to get pre-approval and certification when needed.
• Patients are checked in, the objective of the visit is confirmed, vital signs are taken and recorded, and the patient’s medical history is updated.
• Clerical jobs include answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking insurance, collecting co-pays, and completing lab request forms, as well as any other tasks given to the employee.
• Ordering and stocking supplies are among the responsibilities of this position. Contributes to the preservation of a neat and tidy working environment.
• Records medical information in files and arranges them as needed. Create and maintains health records in this ways.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary environment by setting up rooms and organizing tools and equipment.
• Clinical activities include blood draws, EKGs, hearing and vision screenings, urinalysis and prescription administration as well as treatments and small operations if required.

Skills:

• Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
• A minimum of six months of related experience, training, or an equal mix of education and experience.
• In order to be hired, job applicants who do not have a high school diploma or GED equivalent will have to complete a GED/HSEA program. New hires will have one (1) year from the date of their hire to finish a GED program and get their High School Equivalency Assessment (HSEA).
• Great interpersonal skills to deal effectively with others and the ability to function in a fluctuating work environment.
• Shows a good knowledge of the value of patient safety and satisfaction.
