Installing, maintaining, and supporting the college’s telephone, college-issued mobile phones, IP PBX, voicemail, and communications backbone systems is a somewhat complex task for a Telecommunications Technician. The ability to offer user assistance, training, and documentation for the college telephone and voicemail system, as well as backup to the Network Architect, distinguishes this position. Qualifications:

• Regular maintenance, in-field cross-connections, voice quality debugging, and dealing with the legacy support contractor are all responsibilities of the primary service owner for the legacy phone system.
• Installs, tests, maintains, and repairs telephones Installs, maintains, and repairs communications racks, cables, terminals, grounding, and wiring.
• It is now possible to begin the installation of networking gear such routers, switches multiplexers, cable trays, as well as fire and security systems.
• Maintains a grasp of colleagues’ work to give backup and/or assistance when the division is short-staffed or has a high workload.
• All kinds of computer equipment as well as other items like peripherals may be transported by a transporter. Loads, unloads, and transports plant-related hardware, supplies, and commodities.
• Resolves issues with desktop hardware and software, the computer system, the network system, the server, as well as telecommunications and printers.
• Research new technologies to find deployable ideas and give management and employees with written suggestions.
• Expertise in low voltage cabling, audio visual, IP Telephony, phones, voicemail, and associated communications systems. Monitor and buy phone, data cabling, UPS, and network infrastructure supplies.
• It instructs people on how to utilize and apply hardware and software systems and gives them instructions on how to use them. Help Desk phone and email monitoring, as well as the creation and resolution of work orders.
• You must maintain the SIP connection, PC soft clients for headsets and their management software, Polycom conference phones and analog circuits as well as a UAT test in order to keep the unified communication platform working efficiently.

Skills:

• You’ll need to be able to work with and manipulate various pieces of equipment and/or materials in order to carry out your job’s most basic responsibilities.
• Structured cabling, patch panel terminations, and campus copper cabling systems are all choices for high-speed modular connections.
• To apply for this job, you must have a high school diploma and five years of experience in a related field. Those who want to apply should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or communications.
• Analytical and/or categorization skills are necessary for successful utilization of data and information. When looking for connections and interactions in data, it’s important to use judgment when classifying the information and referring to previously established standards.
• Telecom voice system knowledge is required. Session border controllers, analog getaways, Windows and Linux server architecture, VoIP/SIP troubleshooting tools, T1, E1, fraud analysis and remediation, IP phone routing, IVR, ACD, chatbots, PCAP, Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, Cisco routing/switching, QOS, and MOS knowledge is beneficial.
