Qualifications:

• Performed inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and other plumbing-related tasks as directed by the employer and in compliance with applicable codes, schematics, operating instructions and manufacturer maintenance guidelines on a regular basis.
• A plumber installs, modifies, and repairs plumbing using techniques such as main line location and taping, system routing, opening placement and cutting, and the installation of hangers. When pipes are appropriately sloped and leveled, the need for valves, traps, and unions becomes evident. This makes the system more efficient. Repair, repair, and install backflow prevention devices in accordance with municipal ordinances.
• Observes the functioning of plumbing systems and fixtures in order to identify problems or discover breakdowns. Removing damaged components from electronic gadgets. Examines used components and equipment for changes in calibration, dimensional requirements and manufacturer’s standards. In order to assure appropriate system functioning, testers and precision measuring tools perform tests and calibrations.
• Uses hand tools and power tools to cut holes in walls and floors for pipes and pipe fittings. Pipe cutters, a cutting torch, and a pipe-threading machine are used to cut and thread pipes. Use a pipe-bending machine or place the pipe over a block and bend it by hand to get the right angle.
• To ensure the safety of the facility by conducting regular safety inspections, conducting leak detection tests, and soldering or brazing tubing or pipe. Also, pours lead joints and seats equipment. Works with the manufacturer’s specifications to replace or repair components in heating systems and other water-heating equipment such as tankless water heaters and tanks.

• Designs and lays out the routing, placement, fall, and operation of plumbing systems and equipment by interpreting architectural plans, blueprints, and drawings. Completion of the routing and placement of systems leading to equipment; installation, connection, and testing of systems and equipment. Determines which components are required to perform the task. Marks pipe and connector locations in walls and floors.
• Heating boilers, radiators, valves, pipe circulators, air compressors, condensate pumps, steam traps, etc. Air-change system maintenance.
• A job that requires the use of hand and power tools to put together and install a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings and valves. Examples of metals used include: iron steel brass and lead. Other nonmetals include: glass and vitrified clay.

Skills:

• Hand and power tools must be used correctly, and a person must be able to understand blueprints, technical drawings, and mathematical computations. A few instances are included below.
• Any combination of education, skills, and experience that is comparable to having completed high school might be considered an equivalent. Preferred education level is a technical degree from an institution of higher learning that is recognized for its technical programs.
• Be able to operate in pipe spaces between walls and crawl spaces under buildings, from roof eave to sewage ditch and manhole, must be physically fit.
• Evidence that the applicant has successfully completed an authorized apprenticeship program of at least four years’ duration, the completion of which resulted in the award of the position of journeyman plumber.
