Plumber installs, maintains, and repairs heating and plumbing systems under general supervision. Responsible for client service and quality work. Provides plumbing expertise for complicated situations and the Plumber’s services, skills, and obligations.

Qualifications:

• Investigates faults or malfunctions in plumbing systems and fittings. Removes defective parts from devices. Calibrations, dimensions, and manufacturer’s specifications of used components and equipment are examined. Performs system and equipment testing and calibration to ensure optimum system performance.
• Cuts holes in walls and floors for pipe and fittings. Pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe threading machines are utilized. You may bend pipe by yourself or using a machine or block.
• Repairs, adjusts, tests, and troubleshoots assigned plumbing equipment in compliance with plumbing regulations, schematics, operating manuals, and manufacturer’s maintenance instructions.
• Respond to service calls and requests about how to operate, fix, maintain, install, and remove plumbing equipment (including dining specific equipment).
• Give great customer service by responding to requests quickly (according to priority timeframes), keeping the customer informed of progress, and following up when the job is done.
• Building plans, blueprints, and sketches are read and interpreted so that plumbing systems may be routed, sunk, and installed in a proper manner. Completion of the routing and placement of systems leading to equipment; installation of the systems, connection, testing of the systems and equipment; Determines what is needed to complete the project. Marks the locations of pipes and connectors in the walls and floors of a building.
• A job that requires the use of hand and power tools to put together and install a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings and valves. Examples of metals used include: iron steel brass and lead. Other nonmetals include: glass and vitrified clay.
• Leak-detection and preventative maintenance checks are performed, as well as soldering and brazing of tubing and pipe. Lead joints and seat equipment are also poured and installed. Water heater, tank, sink, or shower installation and replacement in accordance with manufacturers’ requirements via the use of recognized processes and test equipment.
• Installs, changes, and fixes plumbing by finding the main line and tapping it, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, and hanging pipes. Levels and slopes the pipes correctly and decides if valves, traps, and unions are needed to make sure the system works well. Back flow prevention devices are tested, fixed, replaced, and put in place according to local codes.
• Heating boilers, radiators, valves, pipe circulators, air compressors, condensate pumps, steam traps, etc. Air-change system maintenance.

Skills:

• This person is physically able to work in pipe gaps between walls and crawl spaces under buildings, from roofs (vents) to sewage ditches and manholes.
• Possession of the knowledge, skills, talents, and physical characteristics required to execute the essential responsibilities of the employment, including but not limited to the ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, solve mathematical problems, and use hand and power tools properly.
• Evidence of having completed a four-year recognized apprenticeship program, resulting in the appointment to journeyman plumber.
• Knowledge of plumbing procedures and regulations, knowledge of building standards and maintenance concepts and practices, and so on and so forth. Having the ability to detect and fix problems with water and plumbing systems.
• Education, training and experience comparable to that of a high school degree. A technical degree from an accredited college or university is a plus.
