Perform a range of professional duties on the district’s plumbing, water systems, and infrastructure to ensure no disruptions to the educational process. Troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, installation, and replacement are included.

Qualifications:

• Service-oriented Excellence is attained by reacting quickly to requests, communicating progress, and following up once a work is complete. Done.
• Examines plumbing systems and fixtures for faults or issues. Devices with defective components are removed. Checks for changes in calibration, dimensions, and manufacturer’s specifications in used components and equipment. Tests and calibrates systems and equipment to ensure that they perform properly.
• Installs, changes, and repairs plumbing by identifying and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, and putting hangers. Level and slope pipes, determine valve, trap, and union needs to maintain system efficiency. Tests, fixes, replaces, and installs back flow prevention devices.
• Maintenance of heating boilers and parts like radiators, valves, piping circulators, air compressors, condensate pumps, steam traps, etc. All systems that change the air should be kept up.
• Routinely examining and maintaining plumbing equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions, code-required designs and specifications, and troubleshooting if issues emerge.
• Regularly checks for leaks and conducts leak detection tests; solders or brazes tubing and pipe; pours lead joints and seats machinery; installs and repairs a wide variety of complex couplings, unions, joints, etc. Work is done in line with manufacturer specifications by utilizing approved techniques as well as testing equipment to install or replace water heater components.
• Designs and lays out the routing, placement, fall, and operation of plumbing systems and equipment by interpreting architectural plans, blueprints, and drawings. Completion of the routing and placement of systems leading to equipment; installation, connection, and testing of systems and equipment. Determines which components are required to perform the task. Marks pipe and connector locations in walls and floors.
• Pipe and fixture installation requires the drilling of holes in walls and floors. Various pipe cutting and threading tools, such as torches, are used. Bending pipes may be done by hand, machine, or block and tube.
• Respond to plumbing-related service requests and perform tasks relating to plumbing equipment operation, repair, maintenance, installation, and removal (including dining specific equipment).
• Utilizing hand and power tools, assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic.

Skills:

• Evidence of having completed a four-year recognized apprenticeship program, resulting in the appointment to journeyman plumber.
• Plumbing procedures and regulations are well-understood. Building regulations, as well as maintenance principles and procedures, are all important. Ability to detect and resolve issues with the water and plumbing systems
• Any combination of education, skills, and experience that is comparable to having completed high school might be considered an equivalent. Preferred education level is a technical degree from an institution of higher learning that is recognized for its technical programs.
• Must be physically able to work on roofs (vents), in sewer ditches and manholes, in pipe spaces between walls, and in crawl spaces under buildings.
• All job-related duties need the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, do mathematical calculations, and appropriately operate hand and power tools. These are only a handful of the possibilities.
