Qualifications:

• Identifiers and logs processes in a record book and schedules tests as needed. Maintains the necessary records, reports, and stats as ordered by the manager.
• Resolve issues with test orders by contacting the doctor, nurse, or reference laboratory. Make a record of the steps you’ve taken. Notify the appropriate supervisor of any unresolved issues.
• Interacts with study subjects on a regular basis in all in-house and outpatient studies so that study-related tasks can be done.
• as well as complying to any and all departmental policies and procedures in place, including but not limited to those pertaining to quality control or worker protection; Complies with all relevant laws and regulations.
• Performs patient registration, collection of payments, data input of demographic and insurance information, and any other operations deemed required to support efficient sample processing.
• In the electronic health record and the laboratory information system, record specimen collection and testing as per standard protocol. Communicate any challenges or problems with the medical staff caring for the patient.
• Blood drawing includes things like sticking a needle into a vein and taking blood from a capillary, as well as standard labeling and moving the sample.
• A hygienic environment is maintained in both the test tray and the working space. Helps to ensure the proper care and maintenance of the department’s equipment and places supply orders when required.
• In a professional manner, welcomes patients. As required by hospital policy, verifies patient identification cards. Effectively punctures the skin and heels of every sufferer I’ve ever encountered. Records doctor orders in LIS. Lab standards and procedures require that you label specimens right away.
• It is the duty of the Patient Test Requester to input patient test requests into the HIS and laboratory computer systems using either written orders or verbal instructions.

Skills:

• Knowledge of specimen collection techniques, including as venipuncture, capillary collection, TB placement, and respiratory swabs, is required. Understanding of various patient groups and their demands
• Some technical jobs may need a qualification, relevant experience, or Phase I technical process training.
• Phlebotomy training from a reputable institution approved to Laboratory Management OR six (6) months of phlebotomy experience
• A high school diploma or its equivalent is required, as well as successful completion of a phlebotomy course certified by the hospital. Candidates with at least six months of prior phlebotomy experience will be given preference.
• You’ll need to be accredited or qualified in phlebotomy by a reputable national body. Inpatient experience gained inside a hospital during the course of one year
