Qualifications:

• Shows concern for the comfort and privacy of the patient and shows interest in the patient’s progress. Answers questions from patients and their families and explains how things work as far as their training and abilities allow. keeps information secret.
• Complete clinical duties as requested by the physician, such as taking blood, running a centrifuge, collecting urine for drug screenings, pregnancy testing, alcohol tests, and delivering injections.
• Properly dispose of needles, urine specimens, and collecting cups to provide a safe and compliant workplace.
• Make phone calls or answer the phone, arrange up patient appointments, obtain supplies required for treatment, and help clinicians by scribing.
• Attending seminars, training programs, in-service meetings, and reading modern literature contributes to personal growth. Maintaining skills is a team effort (both the individual and the institution).
• Interact with insurance companies to get preauthorization for drugs. Appeal insurance company preauthorization denials.
• As determined by the requirements of the unit, conducts general clerical responsibilities. These duties may include, but are not limited to, answering the telephone and call lights, as well as welcoming patients and visitors.
• Perform a nursing evaluation on each patient by asking them questions about their visit and taking their weight, vital signs, and/or other clinical measurements as required.
• The patient care actions are overseen and directed by a qualified practical or vocational nurse. Any changes in a patient’s physical or mental health are communicated to the RN. Assists the nursing staff in responding to emergency patient situations.
• Depending on what the needs of the department are, the individual is responsible for a variety of general clerical tasks. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, responding to calls made through the telephone and call lights, as well as greeting patients, visitors, and anyone that come to the facility.

Skills:

• Acceptable to the Lab Director and fit for the facility’s workload, successful completion of a Department of Health-required Phlebotomy training program
• To be eligible for this employment, you must have a high school diploma or a GED and have completed a CNA program or be currently enrolled in an LPN or RN program and have completed the first semester.
• This role requires CPR OR BLS and spoken and written English fluency (BLS OR CPR)
• Certified CPR and BLS are required for nurses who work in outpatient primary care or drug misuse and mental health.
• Certification in CPR and basic life support (ECG, AED, and BLS) from a facility-based training program.
