We’re looking for Mental Health Counselors that are passionate about institutional treatment. In other locations, they’re called mental health therapists or psychology associates. Mental Health Counselors plan and deliver non-medical mental health treatments in our institution. Mid-level supervisors may coordinate and direct mental health treatment providers.

Qualifications:

• In collaboration with the Lead Therapist, assists individuals and families in establishing collaborative relationships with key players in the medical, educational, and social services sectors of their local communities. Family support services are provided and/or coordinated for assigned consumers and families by other service providers.
• Under the direction of the Lead Therapist (a mental health professional), helps provide family-based therapy to assigned clients and their families, mostly through sessions with individuals, family subsystems, or involved collaterals. The main model of systemic intervention used is “structural family therapy.”
• Identifies ethical difficulties in care and communicates them to the RN, and exhibits the competence to report suspected patient abuse or neglect in accordance with hospital protocol.
• According to their allotment, the records must specify the goals of the patient’s medical record from admission through discharge and aftercare.
• Uses clinical interviewing, objective evaluations, and psychological testing under the direction of a qualified psychologist to evaluate the patient’s condition and select the right treatments to provide.
• Treatment treatments include psychoeducational therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, recreational therapy, parenting skill training, assertiveness training, modeling, coping skills training, and crisis intervention under the leadership of the Lead Therapist.
• Participates in an interactive process that enables consumers and their family members to define specific objectives for family-based services to keep consumers in their homes, under the direction of the Lead Therapist.
• Oversees the preparation of meals for patients on the unit and ensures that the kitchen and dining area are kept clean and organized. satisfies the patients’ specific food requirements in an acceptable manner and has experience operating the relevant biomedical equipment for the unit.
• As part of care coordination or case management, you give the people you help things like information and referrals, education, consultation, setting up appointments, and taking part in meetings.
• Maintains awareness of the unit’s physical plant requirements and notifies an RN of any shortcomings or malfunctions. Obtains materials per instructions.

Skills:

• Licensed Graduate Professional Counselors can do graduate counseling for two years with the help of a supervisor who is allowed to do so.
• A comprehension of the psychiatric group process, the therapeutic linkages, the age-specific growth and development, the limit setting and behavior regulation, as well as the crisis management for aggressive behaviors
• Graduate from an authorized college or university with a Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a similar clinical discipline. A minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience, including two (2) years in a position that is functionally equivalent, is necessary.
• Knowledgeable, skilled, and committed to mental health Capable of assessing client data and planning activities appropriately Valid license and motor insurance.
• Experience developing therapeutic items is a benefit, as is understanding of fast, short-term treatment (e.g. cognitive behavioral therapy or solution focused therapy).
