The Machinist follows written and verbal instructions to program and operate computer numerically controlled work centers to manufacture a wide variety of standard and custom component parts of above-average complexity.

Qualifications:

• Take the machine apart to perform needed repairs, replace worn parts, or install new ones.
• Find out what goes into making a product, from the raw materials to the finished goods, and all the tolerances and measurements that go along with them.
• Utilize resources and methods such as hardware, software, and components to find solutions. Determine how the machine could benefit from the part’s specifications being altered and offer up some changes.
• Carry out complex procedures like turning, drilling, milling, and tapping to produce enough finished parts.
• To set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools, as well as to perform basic shop calculations relating to task dimensions, tooling, feeds, and milling speed, the machinist makes use of a wide range of hand tools and precise measuring equipment.
• Detailed preparation and organization of tasks are performed in response to both oral and written directives.
• Respect all established safety procedures, including those pertaining to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and the right way to put on and remove PPE (PPE)
• Using precise measurement, check completed products for defects and guarantee they meet all requirements.
• The production of high-quality parts requires close collaboration between programming engineering and the manufacturing sector.
• Lathes, mills, and grinders, among others, will fall under your purview as you perform your duties here.

Skills:

• Familiarity with the working properties of metals and extensive experience in machine technology, construction, heavy industrial machinery, and power/control devices are all pluses.
• experience in the field for at least two years or a two-year associate degree in mechanical or automotive engineering
• accuracy in measurement achieved by employing sophisticated measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, drop gages, and gage blocks).
• Proven skill with both hand and machine tools is expected.
• A machinist’s ability to perform in temperatures as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer is essential to the success of their business.
