The librarian is responsible for the library’s general daily upkeep, which includes ordering, cataloguing, categorizing, circulating, and keeping all periodicals, books, and materials. Offers guidance and information about using the card catalog. Maintains the purchase of particular books.

Qualifications:

• Assists the Library Director with the creation, revision, and enforcement of all policies and procedures.
• Take part in conferences, workshops, and committees to keep up with the latest developments in the field of information management.
• As a member of the team producing the collection, please recommend acceptable electronic resources in the aforementioned subject areas. This includes testing the usability of new electronic resources on a regular basis.
• In collaboration with the professors, library orientation for classes may be conducted.
• Controls the circulation of books and other materials and keeps the library operating smoothly.
• Recommends library procedures and rules for the Center.
• Develops and maintains a balanced collection appropriate to the needs of the assigned detainee population.
• Follow the rules of excellent customer service for all library users and staff.
• Reliable records for circulation, inventories, newspapers, and magazines are created, maintained, and reported.
• Chooses new books, magazines, and other resources for the library’s collection.

Skills:

• To promote teaching and the introduction of library resources, show that you have great communication and presentation abilities.
• A bachelor’s degree in library sciences or a closely related field is required, along with either a provisional or professional librarian certification.
• Display excellent database searching skills for literature across a variety of databases and platforms.
• Being able to understand a user’s information requirements and provide relevant, high-quality evidence.
• A year of work experience and/or training is required to operate and maintain a modest institutional library. Must comprehend library operations, policies, and structures based on job experience.
