The Librarian is in charge of the Library’s overall management and direction. Plans, develops, implements, and offers information services and resources for present and future managerial, marketing, research, and strategic planning needs to support Library programs, services, and products. Planning, developing, and managing the purchase, cataloging, organization, upkeep, and accessibility of various print, non-print, and electronically accessible resources are all responsibilities of the librarian. Provides tools and information that are accurate, timely, thorough, and pertinent to help staff members solve problems.

Qualifications:

• Develops and maintains a collection that is suitable for the needs of the specified inmate group and is well-balanced.
• Follow the guidelines for providing outstanding service as a librarian.
• Assists the library director in developing, amending, and enforcing all policies and procedures.
• Suggest appropriate electronic sources in the aforementioned fields as a team member constructing the collection. This entails regularly reviewing new electronic materials and evaluating their usability.
• Attend workshops, serve on committees, and participate in professional gatherings to stay up to date on information management trends.
• In collaboration with professors, library orientation for classes may be conducted.
• Prepares, maintains and reports appropriate records pertaining to circulation, inventory, newspapers and magazines.
• Maintains library facilities and controls the flow of books and other items.
• Chooses new books, magazines, and other resources for the library’s collection.
• Recommends library policies and procedures for the Center.

Skills:

• For the purpose of educating and introducing people to library resources, show that you have great communication and presentation abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree necessary, preferably in library sciences or a closely related discipline, or provisional or professional certification as a librarian.
• The ability to recognize information requirements and provide value-added evidence.
• Exemplify superior database searching abilities for literature across numerous databases and platforms.
• One (1) year work experience and/or training preferred in the operation and maintenance of a small institutional library required. Must have overall knowledge of library operations, procedures, and structures as evidenced in work experience.
