Qualifications:

• Undertake a thorough analysis of each loan application’s credit, income, and assets to determine the level of risk involved, and promptly relay your findings to the mortgage originators.
• Maintain a well-developed knowledge of loan product guidelines and industry regulations, including assisting in the prevention, detection and resolution of mortgage fraud.
• Collaborate with other groups to modernize rules or the secondary market and educate them on how to conduct condo assessments, income analyses, and asset appraisals.
• Conform all loan files, including those for portfolio products, to all applicable agency and investor criteria.
• Demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions about the creditworthiness of applicants based on established underwriting criteria, Bank rules and procedures, and your own knowledge and judgment.
• Value and conformity to industry standards in the appraisals will be assessed.
• controls the updating of all product guides for the portfolio. Whenever necessary, suggests modifications to the portfolio product manuals.
• Examine the property’s supporting papers, such as the sales contracts, insurance policies, and flood maps.
• Deliver exceptional service to clients (both internal and external) by adapting to their needs and building relationships with them.
• maintaining and managing the Bank’s appraisal website, including communicating with appraisers regarding changes, errors, and supplementary information.

Skills:

• Ability to use computers and a willingness to learn new software.

• Experience in mortgage underwriting, preferably between one and three years, or an equivalent mixture of education and experience, is preferred.
• Completion of a 64-credit-hour associate’s degree program or a two-year bachelor’s degree program at an accredited university.
