The Department of Defense’s Office of Energy Initiatives is searching for a Junior Financial Analyst to assist project teams. The Junior Financial Analyst must have good research, modeling, and communication abilities, as well as the ability to operate as part of a team in a fast-paced client environment. The Junior Financial Analyst must contribute to the finance team’s overall quality of service. In addition, the analyst will be matrixed to multidisciplinary project-focused teams, who will utilize her/his findings to guide project development’s next stages.

Qualifications:

• Maintain a record of promises, obligations, and expenditures to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with their periodic goals. Assist with the financial execution and strategy formulation for certain projects.
• Support budget and strategy planning. Interact with all management levels to complete budgets. Analyze actual vs. budgeted outcomes
• In order to offer a full perspective of the project business case, this function does sensitivity analysis and considers the consequences of alternative finance structures, utility rate structures, tax policies, and federal and state policy supports. Advice is given to the government while it works to establish a large-scale renewable energy project.
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of departmental guidelines. Regular updates are made to account reconciliations and important dates. Journal entries are processed from invoices.
• The processing of new hires, terminations, and personnel alterations, as well as the handling of accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, and timesheet reconciliation are all performed.
• Assist in the planning, analysis, and preparation of recommendations, as well as the implementation, reporting, management, delivery, and maintenance of newly identified budget and financial initiatives within set deadlines that might otherwise have an influence on day-to-day operations.
• Tech Finance operations such as monthly/quarterly forecasting, capacity management, accruals, costs and labor optimization may be assisted with the analysis and reporting.
• Help with planning, analyzing, making recommendations, implementing, reporting, managing, delivering, and keeping up with any new FMD responsibilities that come up as a result of the Operational/Organizational Assessment or other organizational realignments or fixes.
• Performs a thorough analysis of the project’s commercial and financial challenges by drawing on strong analytical skills and extensive real-world experience. Incorporates a comprehensive analysis of the costs incurred over the course of a product’s entire life cycle in order to direct the appraisal of possibilities undertaken by the government and to pinpoint significant business risks.
• Every financial analyst’s job description should include data query and data management tools, and Excel expertise is a requirement (Access, SQL, Business Objects)

Skills:

• Analysis and problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal and written communication, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere are some of the qualities required for this position.
• It is necessary to be familiar with the tools and procedures used to develop business cases for large-scale private investments in energy consumption research, energy rates, and life cycle cost analyses.
• 5 years of professional experience in program/project management in DOD procurement, with proven and specialized competence, or 5 years of professional experience in Navy/DoD Financial Management systems.
• CPA or Master’s degree desired but not needed; Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a similar discipline Working familiarity of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as other commonly used applications.
• Two years’ experience in accounting and finance; financial analysis skills preferred. Prior sales experience is a plus.
