By acquiring and evaluating data from drawings, specifications, and other various documentation, the project estimator is in charge of creating precise estimates for projects. The Project Estimator participates in preconstruction activities and must be present at each monthly sales review.

Qualifications:

• Problems that aren’t listed in the plans are considered and allotted for in the cost estimate.
• Examine plan, soils report, project specification, project bid guidelines and measure quantities.
• Creating and maintaining a historical pricing record for labor, supplies, and equipment can enable precise and effective bids.
• Making sure that all customers are happy and that all proposals are properly documented.
• Talking about the price of jobs and projects with customers face to face, either at their home or place of business, is a common service provided by estimating companies.
• Check all drawings, specifications, and other construction documents for accuracy, completeness, and potential hazards.
• budgets and estimates for building projects are developed after a thorough analysis of construction plans, specifications, and other data.
• Check for discrepancies between the specifications and the drawings.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and all estimating services as assigned for general construction divisions.
• Make sure the handoff from Preconstruction to Construction Operations goes smoothly and all necessary information is shared.

Skills:

• Microsoft Project knowledge (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Possess at least two years of relevant work experience in sales or estimating, ideally in the home improvement industry.
• possess expertise in managing complicated projects that require communication with a large number of positions in design, construction, accounting, and operations.

• Able to interpret blueprints, blueprint specifications, and job descriptions
