Job Description

The Retention Specialist helps first-generation students qualified for the College’s Title III initiative. The initiative aims to create and provide a college-wide strategy to addressing first-generation students’ needs to boost academic preparation, improve retention, and raise academic achievement and lead to program completion, employment, and/or transfer. As such, responsibilities include academic advising with students to ensure appropriate course selections to meet program requirements, assisting in accessing academic and support services to address deficiencies and issues that would impact retention, maintaining records on student meetings and recommendations, maintaining student data for grant reporting, working with college staff, and attending project implementation team meetings.

  • Keep customers by solving problems quickly and creatively and keeping problems from getting worse. Learn about and use the approved resolution paths to help customers.
  • having a solid grasp of the federal background investigation process, including the regulations and criteria that govern security clearance background checks
  • Sales, marketing, and business degrees are desirable, but not required. In addition to 1-3 years of successful sales experience, prior B2B sales/service experience in the telecommunications industry is highly preferred.
