Our Direct Support Professionals help people with developmental impairments with their daily life tasks, which enables them to keep up their active participation in their communities.

Qualifications:

• Teach and support clients with all activities of daily living, including but not limited to personal hygiene, including toileting, cooking, home cleaning, laundry, keeping a healthy lifestyle, shopping, budgeting, proper conduct, and community integration.
• Observe behavioral and physical changes, use suggested measures to help, and record and report.
• Do minor housework, conduct errands, transport/accompany clients to appointments, and help with prescriptions. Assist with cooking, bathing, feeding, toileting, and grooming.
• Becoming a part of the process through which the CFA/ISP and behavior plans for training and documentation are developed and maintained
• Companion, encourage, and help a person. Accompany clients to community events like grocery shopping and errands.
• Assistance with other activities of daily life, if and when it is necessary, in order to help individuals in achieving their own objectives of independence and gaining autonomy. Transportation to and from prearranged events is provided.
• Knowledge and execution of Emergency Procedures with precision, Ensure the vans are clean and any vehicle issues are documented and reported to the site supervisor or manager.
• Report on customer statuses and updates in a proactive manner, maintaining a good atmosphere with open and honest communication; Create an atmosphere of trust with your family members, and be there for them when they need emotional support. Inform the clinical team if there are any concerns about the health of the patient.
• Complete all required trainings and take part in the Peer Mentoring Program, in-service workshops, and recertification trainings as needed. stand up for the rights of the people we help.
• Direct care is provided to persons who have intellectual disabilities, as well as specialized care in the areas of daily living, social activities, and recreational pursuits. Encouragement and assistance for the development of full independence.

Skills:

• Interspersed with periods of sitting and kneeling are periods of prolonged standing and walking as well as short bouts of stooping or ascending to reach higher places on a ladder.
• In addition to this, the work needs regular reaching below knee level and above, as well as continual reaching between the knee and shoulder level.
• Recognition of the needs and concerns of others, as well as the capacity to develop solid connections that are client-centered, regardless of geography, socioeconomic circumstances, medical diagnosis, ethnic background, or religious affiliation
• Willingness to work weekends or nights to help clients Professional development, including state- and organization-required training
• High school diploma or GED; some colleges prefer it; Having worked with adults with developmental disabilities before is preferred, 18 months and older must have a valid driver’s license.
