For waterfront, dam, and site/civil engineering projects, geotechnical engineering will be supported by this role, which includes foundation systems and retaining walls as well as slopes and ground improvements. Qualifications:

• Assist Project Managers with mining, infrastructure, and water resource projects for both public and private sector customers of the company.
• Calculations made using traditional or computer-assisted technical equipment, depending on the context (e.g., slope stability, excavation support, settlement)
• Knowledge and expertise in the phosphate mining business, specifically in the areas of mined land water management and reclamation, clay settling area design and construction, and gypsum stack design, operations, and closure.
• Prepare engineering calculations and analyses relating to material quantities, embankments, shallow and deep foundations, settlement, soil and rock slope stability, and retaining walls while following the instructions of senior members of the engineering team.
• Create project deliverables including technical proposals, cost estimates and engineering reports and deliverables like diagrams and specifications for design projects.
• Perform a broad variety of geotechnical engineering analysis and designs, such as slope stability assessments, seismic evaluations, shallow and deep foundation designs, ground improvement designs, excavation and shoring evaluations, and other tough technical assessments. Participate in
• Providing support for landfill and waste containment system design and permitting, geotechnical instrumentation, environmental remediation, seismic engineering, and offshore field investigations.
• Perform slope stability, seepage, and/or settlement analyses for dams, levees, waste landfills, etc., as directed by senior engineering staff.
• Field responsibilities include subsurface testing and soil and bedrock investigations for foundation design and construction. Test boring inspection, monitoring deep and shallow foundation construction, and ground improvements are examples.
• Manage and execute laboratory and field geotechnical and testing projects for construction materials in a safe manner, on schedule, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction.

Skills:

• The ability to operate outside in all weather conditions in tough and distant field sites Long-distance driving and sometimes overnight travel are required.
• Great writing and vocal communication skills; strong attention to detail; excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment skills; ability to operate alone and in a team.
• Slope stability, foundation engineering, and seismic assessment analyses: education and/or training for practical engineering solutions
• accreditation in EIT or the possibility to get certified in EIT within six months of graduation from a civil or geological engineering program at an ABET-accredited school or university
• Experience in subsurface exploration field exploration and instrumentation, including different drilling techniques, dug test pits, geophysics, and installation and monitoring of inclinometers and groundwater transducers.
