Qualifications:

• In responsibility of ensuring that the region’s silviculture strategy and the yearly plan are implemented, field-verifying treatment candidates and providing management with information about the setting, negotiating contracts for silviculture and overseeing operations.
• Provides information to consumers about codes and other regulatory requirements; acts as a subject matter expert on applicable regulatory codes; monitors and inspects barriers and other safety-related signs and equipment.
• Landscape, tree removal, and site clearing plans are reviewed for compliance with municipal codes and ordinances; lower level inspectors are consulted regarding site inspections to verify the accuracy of information contained in submitted plans; applicants are notified in writing of the reasons for denial; assigns and participates in inspections of site clearing activities to ensure that work is performed in accordance with the plans;
• Conducting early- and mid-rotation responsibilities for the forestry department as well as any additional activities that may be allocated.
• Observe the condition of county-owned forestland and help to write forest stewardship plans that will help them manage the land in the future, Gathering and analyzing data from the field is part of what we do. This helps us figure out how the forest stands. To use the Forest Landscape Assessment Tool (FLAT), work with staff and contractors. Use it to look at the condition of all forestland parcels that have recently been bought or that have just been bought.
• When it comes to selling and managing the crop, this person makes sure that the yearly thin and harvest schedule is correct, as well as the design of the roads and access rights of way, as well as any other tasks that may be needed for that.
• Create new outreach materials to promote diverse forestry projects by re-evaluating and updating forestry websites.
• All elements of forest management and harvest monitoring on corporation or private property are included in this profession.
• Tree and landscaping inspections are aided and participated in by municipal workers. Plant materials must be of acceptable quality, number and kind; protocols for conserving existing and planting new plants must be followed; and maintenance and care arrangements must be in place. These are all responsibilities of the landscape architect or designer.
• Maintaining the health and safety of the City’s tree stock and training other Streets Division employees on appropriate tree care procedures are the key duties of this job..

Skills:

• Perform inspections and identify pathological plant problems; educate employees in tree and landscaping inspections; build and manage effective tree and landscaping inspection systems; conduct inspections and give diagnosis. Analyze the viability of repairing sick or otherwise damaged trees. Review landscaping designs and make an informed decision on whether they should be accepted or rejected. Enforce laws, ordinances, and rules in a fair and consistent manner..
• The ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with other workers, departments, and members of the general public is required.
• Expertise in all aspects of tree care from planting to trimming to disease inspection to disease eradication is required.
• Excel and Word fluency, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, are required for this position.
• a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and six months of work experience in landscaping, forestry, or nursery operations and six months of work experience conducting tree and landscape inspections..
