As the managing editor, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process, from contract signing to product delivery. Maintaining continuous communication with the writer and editor throughout the project’s duration is essential to ensuring the quality of the final product, as is keeping track of costs, deadlines, and financial output budgets (s).

Qualifications:

• Keeping tabs on projects as they go through the many phases of the full content lifecycle, updating the schedule as necessary, and informing relevant parties of any delays compared to the fiscal year’s goals.
• Encourage the creation of excellent written materials by other departments, such as membership materials, program fliers, and exhibition labels.
• Using the right tools, monitoring actual project costs against planned ones, sharing any discrepancies with stakeholders, and fixing any problems that arise
• Always keep the internal style guide up-to-date, giving special attention to any revisions that will make the language more inclusive and welcoming.
• By working with Editorial, you can make sure that the necessary information is entered into the system from the beginning of the contracting process all the way until the product’s eventual retirement.
• Working with Editorial/Senior Managing Editor and drawing on knowledge of the publishing program and author roster, you will create plans for the upcoming publication year.
• Maintaining high-level communication with the author throughout the content creation process, sharing information about upcoming workflow stages, and setting expectations up front regarding the author’s duties and the content development and production processes; obtaining content delivery from the author.
• Working together with the retail crew, nearby museums, and print-on-demand service providers will help you fulfill retail and wholesale requests.
• Develop revenue-generating opportunities, including selling Magazine at venues such as bookstores or newsstands and leading the creation of a profitable advertising program across content platforms.
• Collaborate with a variety of designers, writers, editors, and producers, both on and off the payroll.

Skills:

• expertise in digital book publishing processes and other forms of media production.
• knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and email to a high level.
• Oversees the research and negotiation of licenses and fees for use in journals of artwork, photography, and copyrighted material.
• comprehends the different steps involved in creating content from beginning to end, including content development, content production, and content delivery, as well as their timeliness.
• is aware of how decisions made in a company’s operations affect the bottom line, the flow of cash, and returns on investment (ROI).
