If you’re a Reporter, you’ll love this chance we have to offer. This reporter’s job at the Company will be to provide the public an inside look at the creative process, whether that’s at a major concert venue or in the home studio of an up-and-coming artist. They will investigate how our varied region’s culture is communicated via many mediums such as song, dance, ritual, art, literature, film, and the spoken word. They’ll share accounts of people, places, and things at the crossroads of arts, culture, and marginalized groups, as well as how new social movements are being reflected in creative forms like music and literature. The ideal candidate will be an engaging communicator who is at ease on both ends of the microphone. In addition to delivering outstanding audio narrative for radio and podcasts, they should also be able to host engaging, thought-provoking conversations live on-air and in the community.

Qualifications:

• Any place where underrepresented groups congregate is fertile ground for creative nonfiction storytelling.
• Engage with important stakeholders on a consistent basis, and organize frequent meetings and discussions with local artistic communities.
• Using online federal and state reporting tools, keeping an eye on public disclosure forms, researching them, and submitting records requests are all additional tasks.
• Collaborate closely with editors and content creators to develop a strategy and plan that articulates your vision for covering the arts and how you intend to go about doing it.
• Maintaining a regular filing schedule may require occasional weekend labor.
• As a tool for reporting and distribution, actively connect with social media and source networks.
• Find and create fascinating art tales for a variety of channels, such as podcasts, web, video, and broadcast audio.
• Depending on the circumstances, you may also be asked to take photos, make videos, or even do live on-air reports to accompany your reporting.
• Your responsibilities in this position will include making suggestions and working on assigned stories. Your superior will be the managing editor.
• The reporter will also be responsible for covering and uncovering stories relating to the influence of money in politics, including but not limited to the activities of political action committees, lobbyists, conflicts of interest, and the like.

Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in professional journalism, with emphasis on arts coverage, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Capacity to work independently and cooperatively, as well as to show oneself in a professional manner when representing the station.
• Fluency in English and the capacity to explain complex concepts to laypeople.
• Knowing your way around Microsoft Office programs like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is a plus. Competence with social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and others is preferred.
• basic knowledge of or expertise with audio production tools and procedures.
