Job Description

The Financial Accountant oversees complicated professional accounting for the Office of Sponsored Programs. The grant or restricted funds are utilized to fund this position. A grant renewal or restricted financing is required for continuous employment.

Qualifications:

  • Help with the monitoring of quality control on the financial concerns for the whole company and the assigned programs.
  • In order to ensure that accounting and financial paperwork is accurate and thorough, financial data is generated.
  • Give all assigned programs the necessary financial guidance while taking into account the location and model of the program.
  • Financial data, documents or reports are examined and analyzed as part of their accounting tasks.
  • Prepares technical reports on payroll, estimates, cost data, and budget items as well as quarterly analyses of fund balances and expenditures. Aids in finding solutions to accounting or financial issues.
  • Working with program and senior management on the yearly budgeting process and updating the budget as necessary.
  • Helps solve accounting or financial issues. Technical support for accounting processes is provided. Ensures that all standards, regulations, and procedures are followed.
  • The classification, coding, posting, and balancing of financial and accounting data and documentation.
  • Maintain frequent contact with the senior financial reporting accountant and external consultants to ensure that the relevant accounting procedures are used.
  • Initiates transactions for different accounts. Creates technical reports on payroll, estimates, cost information, and budgetary items, as well as performs periodic analysis of fund balances and expenditures.

Skills:

  • Administrative and clerical processes and systems such as word processing, spreadsheet use, file and record management, and other office procedures and technologies are required.
  • The capacity to multitask, collaborate, and operate independently in an orderly and effective way.
  • The capacity to critically analyze arguments and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of various findings, solutions, or approaches to issues.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting from a recognized college or university (equivalency: will accept an associate’s degree with two years of accounting experience or a high school diploma or GED with four years of accounting experience)
  • It is vital to be able to read, write, and communicate verbally and in writing in order to express and exchange ideas.
