Job Description

We’re searching for someone to join our team that is a Geologist. Soil logging and sampling, as well as the construction of monitoring wells and monitoring boreholes, are all part of the field activities. Remediation expertise is a plus; hazardous waste site investigations and different kinds of sampling, such as low-flow groundwater and surface water and sediment and subsurface vapor and air samples, are required. It is a benefit if you are familiar with ESA Phase I and Phase II as well as GIS programs and applications.

Qualifications:

  • To do their work effectively and efficiently, drillers must place drilling equipment, communicate management objectives to drill teams, and keep management informed on mechanical issues, hole quality, and surveys.
  • There are a number of programs that must be learned in addition to Microsoft Word and Excel. As a remedial system specialist, you should have a fundamental grasp of building and mechanical systems.
  • The Project Manager should be informed of any issues that arise, such as cost and time overruns, client-requested scope modifications, potential liability exposure, or anything else that may affect the project’s success and safety.
  • Create requests and documents that are technically accurate, clear, intelligible, and follow the existing rules, instructions, and processes if further information is needed.
  • Help District or Division authorities examine geology and risk assessment papers for Solid Waste & Waste Cleanup submittals. Your supervisors or managers will provide you site restoration plans and paperwork to review.
  • Field work planning and preparation, drilling and monitoring well installation supervision, recording soil boreholes, and remedial system deployment (e.g. subsurface injections) and operation and maintenance are some of the typical duties undertaken by field workers. Samples of soil and groundwater will be collected and documented in the field to help assess contamination levels.
  • Project management includes generating proposals and cost estimates, designing corrective processes, monitoring implementation/construction, preparing technical reports, and mentoring.
  • Remedial investigations, system designs, feasibility studies, action plans for remediation, groundwater monitoring plans and reports, cost estimations and technical documentation are some of the things they may have to undertake.
  • Take environmental samples for projects related to waste facilities and help make water quality monitoring plans and look over the results of environmental samples.
  • Management must be kept up-to-date every day, which is why these reports must be written and sent to them regularly. Inventory management and sample transportation are two examples of logistical responsibilities.

Skills:

  • A focus on correctness and delicacy; data collection and the creation of geological maps capable of using Microsoft’s programs Management of many projects
  • Electrical shock, toxic chemicals and explosives, as well as extreme temperatures and humidity are all common hazards in the workplace of a mining or industrial facility.
  • To be qualified for this post, you must have one year of specialized federal government experience or education equivalent to the GS-07. To meet this requirement, you must have worked in the field collecting, analyzing, and reporting on soil and rock sample data, as well as providing standard data to higher-level specialists, conducting studies or investigations, and/or assisting in the administration of mineral locateable and sellable activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in geology plus 20 semester hours in math, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural engineering, mining, petroleum engineering, or computer science from an approved college or university.
  • Ability to execute field and site inspections for groundwater monitoring wells at solid waste sites and for closed landfills.
