Job Description

It is the responsibility of the incumbent to help principals and program managers in the management of the school or department as a whole, to assist in the supervision of each member of teaching and support staff as well as to plan, execute and manage the programs allocated to them.

Qualifications:

  • Provides academic and social support to students by doing things like attending and giving input during Individualized Education Plan meetings, keeping an eye on Due Process, helping students and keeping an eye on staff when there is a crisis, and helping to find steps and responses that will help students who are having trouble with their social and emotional lives.
  • All programs are adequately staffed, agendas are prepared, letters and reports are written and responses to inquires are sent.
  • To better serve the needs of kids, parents, teachers, and others should be informed of the findings of psychological assessments.
  • A wide range of therapeutic options, including individual, group, or system-level interventions, to improve academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health outcomes.
  • Provides recommendations to Principals and Managers regarding the planning and administration of comprehensive student behavioral and discipline programs, ensuring consistency in the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, and working closely with students, teachers, staff, and parents.
  • A multidisciplinary team approach is needed to help children at risk as well as those with impairments get the adequate education they deserve.
  • uses research-backed and technically sound approaches to inform their judgments and activities; creation and improvement of student intervention methods in collaboration with school personnel and parents
  • Participates in a variety of meetings, some of which may include: District meetings, parent or guardian conferences, special education briefings, staff and/or committee meetings, staff development sessions, and/or other relevant meetings.
  • This position works closely with teachers and staff to identify educational and classroom needs that should be taken into account in the creation of district programs, curriculum, and support services and makes suggestions to principals/managers on how to accomplish these tasks.
  • Performs performance assessments of teachers and other employees as assigned; has pre and post-conference meetings; observes teachers, support providers and other employees; and prepares evaluations.

Skills:

  • Pedagogical methods, appropriate instructional interventions, and the ability to use and assess them are all included in this category.
  • A familiarity with child psychology concepts such as evaluations, methodologies, and behavior modification techniques, as well as knowledge of recent advances in child psychology, A familiarity with differentiating instruction for students based on their individual learning styles.
  • Master’s degree in Educational Administration, a license, or the ability to get a license from the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board as a Director of Special Education.
  • To be able to make service delivery choices based on empirical evidence, it is necessary to have a thorough understanding of evaluation procedures.
  • A working knowledge of database management systems, data analysis, and the drafting of strategic action plans are all necessary. a working knowledge of current education and children’s laws at the federal and state level.
