Qualifications:

  • Under the supervision of a certified nurse, performs a number of fundamental patient care duties. Notifies the registered nurse of any changes in the patient’s physical or emotional status. Assists nursing workers in dealing with a variety of emergency patient circumstances.
  • Make phone calls or answer the phone, schedule up patient appointments, obtain supplies required for treatment, and aid clinicians with scribing by doing administrative chores.
  • Performs general clerical responsibilities as needed by the unit, which may include, but are not limited to, answering phones and call lights, welcoming patients and visitors.
  • Shows concern for the patient’s comfort and privacy, and shows interest in the patient’s overall development. Explains procedures and processes to patients and their families within the limits of their expertise and ability, as well as fielding inquiries from patients and their families. Protects the privacy of the information.
  • Performs broad clerical activities, the scope of which is defined by the needs of the unit. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, responding to call lights and telephone calls, as well as greeting patients and guests.
  • Engaging with insurance companies and obtaining preauthorization for drugs will make it easier for patients to get the prescriptions they need. Insurance companies should be contacted if preauthorization requests are denied.
  • Carry out clinical responsibilities in accordance with the physician’s instructions. These responsibilities may include taking blood, running a centrifuge, or collecting urine for the purpose of drug testing, pregnancy testing, or alcohol testing.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant workplace by disposing of biohazardous items, such as needles, and urine specimens and collecting cups, in a suitable and secure manner.
  • As part of the nursing evaluation, ask each patient about their experience and take measurements such as their weight, blood pressure, and pulse.
  • Contributes to individual growth through attending seminars, educational programs, in-service meetings, and reading newly released literature. Competencies are a shared responsibility (both the individual and the institution).

Skills:

  • As a condition of employment, a Phlebotomist must successfully complete a Department of Health-approved training program for Phlebotomy.
  • CPR or BLS certification in its most current version is essential, as well as previous experience working as a nurse in an outpatient setting specialized in general care, substance abuse or mental health.
  • Ability to speak and write English well, Basic Life Support OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • To be eligible for this employment, you must have a high school diploma or a GED and have completed a CNA program or be currently enrolled in an LPN or RN program and have completed the first semester.
  • A certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administration of electrocardiographs, as well as a facility-based training program successfully completed.
