There are a number of ways the Translator helps parents, community members and school staff communicate. Education-related texts are translated by the incumbent(s) and a glossary is kept up to date.

Qualifications:

• Publications from the District are accessible in a variety of languages. These include correspondence with parents that is time-sensitive or contains medical information or legal or secret information, as well as school newsletters and other district publications.
• Translates and revises the work of others in the District. Assists in the training of District workers and consultants that provide translation services to schools.
• Ensure accurate translation of textual materials such as flyer, social media posts, district wide announcements/press releases, and other types of documents into any language.
• In order to ensure that medical and technical terminology is effectively translated, the translator reviews and assesses it in both its source language and its intended target language.
• Creates and maintains databases containing information on the temporary employee pool, including evaluation findings, hours spent, training status, and other associated data.
• Verify that translations are complete and correct, and that the original language, its original meaning, and the original tone and purpose have not been changed or omitted.
• Make the most of your research resources. One must have a solid understanding of Microsoft Office and the Internet in order to produce written translations and merchandise.
• The written word may convey information about a region’s politics, ethnicity, and culture. When translating into another language, it is usual for the translator to utilize terms and phrases specific to the target language’s (TL) norms and modes of expression (s).
• Execute clerical activities, such as answering phones, welcoming visitors, handling general inquiries, opening and sorting mail, producing purchase order requests, validating invoices, and preparing stipends to be paid.
• interprets at parent meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events talks about students’ academic performance, student disciplinary issues, medical problems, and other sensitive topics.

Skills:

• Engaging and encouraging communication skills when communicating with supervisors, employees, students, and others in order to communicate information.
• The capacity to speak a defined language above conversational level enables a constituency with low English language skills to participate fully in the indicated process.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be ready and able to translate in schools and communities using one’s own vehicle
• A bachelor’s degree in translation, foreign language, or a similar discipline or equivalence is necessary, as well as proven interpersonal and writing and vocal communication abilities.
• The capacity to converse effectively in two languages at the native speaker level, as well as an understanding of the cultural context in which those languages are spoken, are required.
