An Associate Editor is needed to join our team of food-loving writers and editors. Recipe galleries and recipe head notes should be able to use search phrases and current research to be updated by the ideal applicant. This person will produce dynamic content, edit text, and help other editors create stories across platforms. Writing and revising recipes, methods, and other areas of home cooking are all part of this role’s responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Assure that any concerns with your journal, particularly those experienced by authors, editors, and peer reviewers, can be addressed swiftly and effectively by colleagues in production, JEO, IT, and other departments by establishing great working relationships with them.
• Perceiving and expressing information for all media, including recipes and stories, in order to fit them into the brand’s overall editorial plan (digital, print, social, podcast, video, etc)
• Manage journal submission, publication, and transfer volume goals, as well as target turnaround time frames, effectively on an annual basis.
• Assess a wide range of marketing, scientific, and other substantiation given in support of advertising claims.
• Planning of product reviews, instructions on cooking techniques, and interviews with professional and home chefs for print and digital publications..
• Make it easier for the editorial team, external resources, and other departments to collaborate on content generation and editorial direction.
• Use well-articulated verbal and written remarks as well as practical, constructive counsel when dealing with content that involves concerns such as excessive violence or explicit language or explicit material or commercial product placement.
• Creating a planning document for each item that provides writers with vetted sources, background information, formatting requirements, and publishing dates is essential.
• Journals should be made to give authors as many opportunities as possible to get involved with the Editors in Chief and Editorial Board Members (EBM) who we depend on.
• Always be on the lookout for and evaluating departmental systems and processes with the goal of designing and implementing innovative solutions that will improve how we do business.

Skills:

• Extensive experience and understanding in online publishing and content management systems, as well as content creation tools such as Adobe Photoshop
• Ability to properly handle various priorities and a huge number of time-sensitive activities in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
• At least three to five years of experience working in journalism, writing, or a related field is required; ideally, this will involve reporting and editing skills as well as familiarity with SEO and newsletter planning and headline best practices.
• Flexibility to collaborate with personnel at all levels on a regular basis, as well as the ability to operate as part of a team
• Possesses the capacity to converse with individuals from other departments (Art, Photography, and the Test Kitchen), as well as from various levels inside the company and from outside sources
