When operating a mobile or stationary crane (cab operated) to lift, transport, and position loads including machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials, the Crane Operator is responsible for the following tasks. An exceptionally high level of competence and knowledge is required. You can’t get by without an NCCCO or CIC.

Qualifications:

• Through the dashboard, you may monitor processes and modify settings as needed. Make sure your work is done in accordance with all local, state, and federal safety rules.
• Lift items and other cargo by communicating with riggers and truck drivers by radio, visual signals, and other ways.
• The supervisor, often known as the crane operator, is responsible for spotting any malfunctioning or broken parts and reporting them to higher ups. It is important to clean and lube the crane’s lifting mechanism.
• The person is able to work through any type of weather and reports any issues immediately. Aside from that, he or she performs additional duties as instructed by upper management.
• Tools like chains, nylon slings, pallet lifters, magnets, vacuum lifters, posi-turners, spreader bars, softeners, tape measures, hammers, punches, pliers, crescent wrenches, and paint stick markers will be used.
• Fasten the rigging to the load, inspect the path it will take, blast a whistle to notify the crane operator, guide the load to its final resting place, and then lower the load into position before returning the rigging to its rack.
• The ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, as well as the mathematical skill to determine the appropriate size of wire, sheaves, and fittings, are all prerequisites for this position.
• Understand and strictly comply with all applicable corporate, customer, health and safety, and other requirements, such as weight and size limits.
• The worker must ascend a vertical ladder (to a height of 25 feet), examine the crane and cab, complete inspection paperwork, operate the crane (4 hand levers, 1 foot brake), and fulfill steel orders.
• After the Crane Operator’s shift is through and the preceding job’s workload permits, the Rigger takes over.

Skills:

• Working in this field requires proficiency with a wide variety of sophisticated machines.
• This post requires both a pre-employment physical examination and an annual physical examination to ensure that the incumbent is in the necessary state of physical health and fitness to carry out the duties of the position.
• It is expected that applicants have worked with cranes of at least 30 feet in height and 60 feet in span before being considered for this position.
• Certification as an NCCCO or CIC is necessary. DOT health card. Authorization or certification from the Safety Department, Equipment Manager, or Operations Manager. In accordance with city ordinance (DC requires operators to be licensed). One must succeed in the practical examination.
• Meet or exceed all safety and housekeeping standards, and maintain an orderly system for storing and retrieving equipment, materials, and supplies.
