We have an opening for a Crane Operator at our site. The job of the Crane Operator is to operate a crane with a grapple and drop ball to dismantle, remove, and transport materials. The Crane Operator will be responsible for all excavation, irrigation, and temperature monitoring in the slag pit.

Qualifications:

  • Capability to work in any climate and immediately report mishaps carries out a variety of tasks as assigned by higher-ups.
  • Tools like chains, nylon slings, pallet lifters, magnets, vacuum lifters, posi-turners, spreader bars, softeners, tape measures, hammers, punches, pliers, crescent wrenches, and paint stick markers will be used.
  • The Riggers get to work once the Crane Operators have concluded their shifts and the workload for the primary project has been approved.
  • Cooperate with riggers and truck drivers by sending them visible or audible signals, or vice versa.
  • Fasten the rigging to the load, inspect the path it will take, blast a whistle to notify the crane operator, guide the load to its final resting place, and then lower the load into position before returning the rigging to its rack.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, as well as the mathematical prowess to calculate load weights, wire, sheaves, and fitting sizes, are all necessities for this position.
  • The control panel allows you to monitor the process and make adjustments as needed. When conducting routine maintenance, it is imperative to keep in mind all applicable safety measures.
  • Climbing a vertical ladder (up to a height of 25 feet), performing a visual inspection of the crane and cab, completing inspection paperwork, operating the crane (4 hand levers, 1 foot brake), and fulfilling steel orders are all part of the job.
  • Be familiar with and abide by all company, customer, health and safety, and other relevant policies, including but not limited to, weight and size restrictions.
  • The operator of the crane is responsible for conducting routine checks to identify any damaged or faulty parts and reporting them to the superior. Purifying and greasing the crane’s hoisting system.

Skills:

  • Experience working at heights of 30 feet or more and with a span of 60 feet or more using a cab and bridge crane (or a comparable type) is required.
  • To do this work, you must have either an NCCCO or CIC certification. The medical ID issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT) is accepted. The Operations Manager, the Equipment Manager, or the Safety Department must sign off on any relevant certifications or approvals. Local law necessitates obtaining a permit (DC requires operators to be licensed). Practical competency is required.
  • To guarantee that the necessary degree of physical health, ability, or fitness to carry out the tasks of the post is maintained on an ongoing basis, this position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual Physical Examination thereafter.
  • Meet or exceed all safety and housekeeping standards, and maintain an orderly system for storing and retrieving equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Heavy machinery operation experience of at least one to two years’ duration is required.
