Job Description

We have an opening for a Crane Operator at our site. The job of the Crane Operator is to operate a crane with a grapple and drop ball to dismantle, remove, and transport materials. The Crane Operator will be responsible for all excavation, irrigation, and temperature monitoring in the slag pit.

Qualifications:

  • Work with riggers and truck drivers to lift items and cargo, using radio or visual signals and other forms of communication.
  • The interface lets you monitor progress and make adjustments as needed. Jobs are finished in accordance with all laws and regulations pertaining to safety, and routine upkeep is performed as well.
  • Inspecting the crane and cab, filling out inspection paperwork, operating the crane (4 hand levers, 1 foot brake), and filling steel orders all require mounting a vertical ladder (to a height of 25 feet).
  • The supervisor, often known as the crane operator, is responsible for spotting any malfunctioning or broken parts and reporting them to higher ups. It is important to clean and lube the crane’s lifting mechanism.
  • Be familiar with and abide by all company, customer, health and safety, and other relevant policies, including but not limited to, weight and size restrictions. The candidate should be familiar with these topics.
  • Following completion of the Crane Operator’s duties and when time permits, the Rigger’s work is completed.
  • Tools like chains, nylon slings, pallet lifters, magnets, vacuum lifters, posi-turners, spreader bars, softeners, measuring tapes, hammers, punches, pliers, crescent wrenches, and paint stick markers are needed to complete this task.
  • The worker is able to operate in all kinds of weather and reports any problems immediately. Takes on supplementary duties as assigned by higher-ups.
  • Fasten the rigging to the load, inspect the path it will take, blast a whistle to notify the crane operator, guide the load to its final resting place, and then lower the load into position before returning the rigging to its rack.
  • This occupation calls for someone who is literate and numerate, able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications and calculate load weights, wire, sheave, and fitting sizes.

Skills:

  • The ability to ensure that all workday safety and housekeeping procedures are followed, that machine capacity is not exceeded, and that all equipment, supplies, and tools are accounted for and stored away properly.
  • When working with cabs and bridge cranes of 30 feet or more in height and 60 feet or more in length, you absolutely must have substantial prior expertise operating such equipment (or anything equivalent).
  • A minimum of one to two years of experience running similar equipment is necessary.
  • Certification from either the NCCCO or the CIC This DOT medical card is genuine. The Safety Department, the Equipment Manager, or the Operations Manager must provide certifications or authorization. Legally, you need a permit from the government (DC requires operators to be licensed). The practical test is obligatory.
  • This post requires both a pre-employment physical examination and an annual physical examination to ensure that the incumbent is in the necessary state of physical health and fitness to carry out the duties of the position.
