The cost accountant plays a crucial role in developing new product costs, analyzing margins, and conducting continuous cost analyses of products. To determine client price, this position will also collaborate closely with the sales teams and senior finance management team.

Qualifications:

  • Managing the integrity of all company performance data and providing that data in a way that supports the management team in making educated financial/performance choices are the responsibilities of this position. To guarantee customer satisfaction, meticulously cost new goods for the sales team and regularly update/maintain the yearly standard cost list. Examine monthly freight costs, periodic inventory cycle counts, month-end inventories, and invoice/spending data thoroughly to check the quality of the information; also, look for abnormalities, monthly inflation, or areas where costs may be reduced. Create/review/analyze/verify proper reporting of production credit received, production expenses, and shutdown project accruals in order to acquire a better knowledge of production performance from the manufacturing team’s point of view Involve yourself in the yearly financial audits. Monthly and quarterly census data reports in line with laws, rules and procedures are also required.
  • A culture of mutual trust and respect may help the company’s management team make sound financial choices. To ensure that all workers have a complete grasp of business performance data, lead yearly shutdown project accrual budget meetings, weekly manufacturing performance meetings, and costing implications training for others.
  • Modifications to the financial management system were required due to changes in financial reporting regulations.
  • To ensure that costs are documented in the proper cost structure, a CPA analyzes, inspects and interprets accounting data and records to identify and repair errors in the accounting records and reports.
  • It is necessary to review and reconcile accounting data (such as general ledger accounts) and to generate reconciliation spreadsheets. Modifications are then submitted and tracked down as needed.
  • Provides accounting and financial management advice and help to management, analyzes information, aids in the resolution of contradictory facts, and/or formulates suggestions for management choices.
  • Consider existing data, predicted future costs, and consumer demand while developing and implementing cost-reducing process innovations to improve production’s financial performance. Ensure that all parties involved in the yearly inventory of the facilities are working together in order to play a significant role. Maintain a hands-on approach to the project’s accrual closeout.
  • Develops or updates current cost accounting data using suitable costing procedures to give accurate and timely financial information that meets informational needs.
  • The responsibilities of this position include both management and cost accounting. Assists with payroll, forecasting and planning for the organization.
  • To identify, measure, accrue and report costs of activities, cost management methods are created or modified and appropriate costing methodologies are utilized.

Skills:

  • Analysis of transactional data in an ERP system and the ability to present results to management in a clear manner a thorough knowledge of the financial, distribution, and production systems is essential.
  • A working knowledge of categorizing costs in accounting and project cost records, creating work papers to support those classifications, and reporting revisions discovered throughout the process.
  • Accounting or a degree in a related field, such as business administration, finance, or public administration, with at least 24 semester hours in accounting. A maximum of six hours of business law credit may be counted toward the total of 24 hours of credit.
  • Financial processes and production environment expertise; manufacturing process, supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, Strong ability to assess problems, identify reasons, gather and analyze data, and provide solutions.
