Qualifications:

  • Ensures compliance with the manufacturer’s requirements and any relevant state standards for mobile/manufactured structure installations.
  • Performing on-site inspections of the work of outside contractors and city workers to ensure that the work performed satisfies contract specifications and quality requirements, as well as conducting on-site inspections at the project sites and the locations of the contractors’ businesses.
  • Provides and participates in a variety of training required to keep up with the ever-changing trends in the building and construction trades and the corresponding inspection regulations; provides direction and mechanical incitement to other contractors and City staff engaged in construction projects.
  • As a subject matter expert, you will monitor and check safety barriers and other safety-related signs and equipment, as well as providing information to clients.
  • It is his duty to check and analyze different building and construction sites across the city, and to ensure that all building projects and activities are compliant with all relevant laws, rules, and standards of practice.
  • Customer service difficulties arising from building codes and regulations are addressed..
  • doing follow-up checks to ensure that the remedial actions taken have been put in place.
  • Ensures that new construction, changes, and repairs conform with building rules, laws, zoning restrictions, and contract requirements for residential and light commercial buildings.
  • Detects infractions and takes action to remedy them; devises and communicates compliance plans; and facilitates the use of alternative means for adhering to federal, state, and local rules, laws, and regulations.
  • He attends meetings and other training sessions to ensure that work is done in compliance with plans and codes. As a result, he’s always up to speed on the latest developments in building materials, repair techniques, and governing legislation.

Skills:

  • General understanding of all sorts of building construction materials and procedures, as well as the phases of development during which potential violations and flaws may be readily identified and addressed
  • Required knowledge and experience are often earned by the completion of a curriculum leading to either a High School Diploma or GED, as well as a minimum of (5) years of job related experience in construction, plumbing, electrical, or a similar profession.
  • Experience in a construction-related position, such as carpentry, that involves the interpretation of specifications/plans and the verification of conformity with local development and building standards
  • At the time of recruiting, candidates must possess a Certified Erosion and Sedimentation Control Lead certificate, or the ability to get one within six months of starting.
  • DBPR One and Two Family Dwelling Inspector license within 90 days of hiring, which must be transferred to a normal license during the necessary term of the department.
