Qualifications:

• This profession requires the use of a wide variety of equipment, gear, and tools. Dump truck, front-end loader, backhoe, tamping machine, cement mixer, air compressor, jackhammer, concrete saw, mallet, shovel, rake, axe, and mechanic tools are examples of these. Concrete forms, tools, and other materials
• Responds to service and information requests from workers, government officials, the public, and others through telephone and/or two-way radio. Provides information. Takes and relays messages.
• The Concrete Finisher’s job is to operate equipment and conduct manual labor tasks related to producing/finishing concrete areas and aiding with other Public Works projects.
• Maintains equipment by inspecting and cleaning it on a regular basis; monitors equipment operations for efficiency and safety; and reports faulty equipment.
• Using a number of different cementitious materials to repair damaged concrete surfaces.
• Performs manual job duties related to department projects (e.g., lifting/moving heavy items, shoveling materials, cleaning up debris/litter, putting up signs, etc.).
• Checks that forms have been produced properly before setting and aligning them; if they haven’t, they’re changed until they fit the appropriate criteria.
• The process of leveling the top surface of newly poured concrete on floors, walls, ceilings, and walkways. Curing the surface of concrete by applying hardening and sealing agents.
• You may either give the information to someone else or keep it for yourself.
• Concrete compression using vibrating machines Installing anchor bolts, steel plates, and other concrete fittings This may be done using a sponge rubber float or burlap.

Skills:

• Ability to adhere to all safety standards and procedures; effectively communicate with coworkers and superiors to ensure tasks are done appropriately.
• Interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities are all essential.
• Working shifts (days, nights) and long hours (70+ hours a week plus nights during the summer) are usual throughout the summer, so be flexible.
• A high school diploma or GED is needed, as well as two (2) years of prior experience and/or training in concrete or brick work; or any comparable combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
• Assisting with a maximum of 150 pounds, he can lift 50 pounds and carry at least 30 pounds.
