Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools, using knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout, machining, and assembly procedures.

Qualifications:

• Work is planned and organized in accordance with verbal and written instructions.
• The machinist uses a broad variety of hand tools and precise measuring equipment to set up and run manual and CNC machine machines, as well as to do fundamental shop calculations relating to task dimensions, tooling, feeds, and milling speed.
• Utilize precise measurement to ensure that finished goods are defect-free and fulfill all required criteria.
• Adhere to safety measures such as Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (PPE)
• The processes and steps necessary to create a product as well as the dimensions and tolerances of the objects themselves may be discovered by examining prototype parts, blueprints, drawings, and technical data.
• Maintain and operate machine tools including lathes, mills, and grinders.
• Cooperate in technical communication with programming developers to produce high-quality components.
• Problems with tools, materials, software, equipment, or parts specs should be investigated and remedied. Recognize and propose improvements to machine performance by altering component specifications.
• To guarantee proper and safe functioning, dismantle and reinstall equipment.
• In order to meet the required number of component parts, perform sophisticated turning, drilling, milling, and tapping procedures

Skills:

• Perfection in the use of high-tech tools for exact measurements (e.g., calipers, micrometers, drop gages, and gage blocks).
• Prior experience as an Industrial Machinist with a thorough grasp of machine technology, construction, operation, and power/control devices, as well as an awareness of metal working characteristics.
• The ability to operate and/or program manual or semi-automated tools and machinery (lathes, grinders etc.)
• a minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant industry or a two-year associate’s degree in mechanical or automotive engineering
• During the summer, the company needs a machinist who can work at temperatures up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit to do their job.
