Job Description

In a childcare education program for children, the Child Care Specialist is responsible for co-planning and conducting developmentally appropriate curricula and child evaluations, as well as maintaining a safe and caring atmosphere. Student personnel, work study students, student interns, and student instructors may be supervised (as needed) by the Child Care Specialist. This job is also responsible for planning and leading parent/teacher conferences.

Qualifications:

• This position will need interaction with the division and the information technology department to keep track of child care registration data.
• Proposals for remedial action are presented to child care providers, along with dates for their implementation.
• Social workers and investigators work together to look into reports of child abuse and neglect and gather evidence to support such reports.
• Assists the State in deciding whether or not to accept new applications for child care providers and whether or not to cancel existing registrations.
• Self-confidence, trust and respect for others are fostered in a growth-promoting atmosphere.
• Verifies that child care providers are conforming to state and federal requirements by inspecting and evaluating current and prospective facilities.
• Conducts training, responds to enquiries, and provides child care-related information to facility operators.
• In the event that health and safety monitoring visits are needed on weekends or at night, make sure you have the appropriate flexibility.
• To maintain compliance with child care standards, there is limited coordination between owners, administrators, boards, and child care providers in a certain geographic area.
• Co-plans appropriate learning activities for groups of children, taking into account their age, group size, composition, and other variables.

Skills:

• General business periodicals, technical processes, and regulatory requirements all demand the ability to read, evaluate, and grasp them.
• Experience dealing with low-income families and/or child care subsidies, as well as understanding of Child Care Resource and Referral Service or child care services, is preferred.
• It is vital to possess great interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• It is critical to be able to effectively communicate information to groups of managers, consumers, directors, and members of the general public, as well as to respond to enquiries.
• Minimum of 36 credit hours post-baccalaureate necessary. At least four years of educational management or teaching experience.
