The Child Care Specialist’s responsibilities in a childcare and education program include collaborating on the creation of age-appropriate curriculum, evaluating each child’s progress, and maintaining a secure and nurturing environment for the kids. The Child Care Specialist could be supervised by a student employee, work study student, intern, or faculty member. This person is also responsible for organizing and leading scheduled parent-teacher conferences.

Qualifications:

• Used by the state to determine whether to register new child care providers or to revoke existing ones.
• Compliance with local child care standards is unlikely to be achieved by widespread cooperation among business owners, managers, boards, and educators.
• To keep tabs on child care registration information, this individual will need to communicate with the division and the IT department.
• Inspections and assessments are performed on daycares to ensure they are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Responsible for collaborating on the development of age-appropriate, developmentally adequate, and pedagogically sound learning experiences for assigned groups of children, taking into account the demographics of the group as a whole and individual children’s needs.
• Gives instructors and caregivers the information they need to succeed through workshops, consultations, and the distribution of resources connected to childcare.
• Together with social service providers, the investigator investigates and documents allegations of child abuse, neglect, or misconduct.
• You should be prepared for the possibility that emergency safety inspections may need to be performed at odd hours, including the weekend.
• Notifies those responsible for looking after children of any problems, formulates a plan to address those problems, and specifies a timeline for implementing that plan.
• It is crucial to create a setting where individuals can trust one another and feel confident in their own talents.

Skills:

• Familiarity with the Child Care Resource and Referral Service or child care programs is a plus, as experience working with low-income families and/or child care subsidies.
• Possessing a solid set of communication abilities, such as being able to clearly and concisely present information and answer questions before audiences of managers, clients, board members, and the general public.
• The capacity to read, assess, and comprehend written material is essential for many careers, including those in business.
• Possessing strong social, organizational, and communicative skills is essential.
• An advanced degree beyond a bachelor’s is expected. Four years of experience in educational administration or teaching.
