Job Description

The day-to-day administration of an efficient internal control and financial reporting program that appropriately supports the organization falls within the purview of the accounting officer. This comprises accounting for capital improvement projects, accounts payable, payments, account reconciliations, journal entries, and account creation.

Qualifications:

  • Posting and checking the correctness of the daily USD and foreign currency accounting transactions. Afterwards, review the suspense activity and assemble the journals.
  • Aid in the creation of financial reports for internal and external usage, including the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports. Account reconciliations for banks, suppliers, customers, and other debtors and creditors should be reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Work in collaboration to provide clear and intelligible financial processes and information with outside parties such as the Foundation Board of Directors, independent auditors and college community.
  • Knowledge of agricultural accounting software and other standard accounting software in the sector is essential. Financial and payroll information must be analyzed in order to establish new business ties and grow existing ones.
  • Adheres to local financial legal and tax requirements; analyzes and interprets accounting policy and regulations in response to challenges in the accounting process.
  • Perform daily accounting tasks, including journal entry posting, general ledger management, accounts payable processing, etc.
  • Collaborates with professionals from the Office of Institutional Advancement to reconcile and assure the accuracy and efficiency of transactional data entry.
  • Agency employees are helped in generating the biannual budget by drafting and updating annual agency spending plans to ensure the agency is utilizing its resources as appropriately and effectively as feasible.
  • Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets and the accompanying depreciation schedules in order to provide accounting entries for prepaid charges, recoverable charges, as well as fixed assets.
  • Checking employee cost reports to see whether charges are in compliance with bank policy and if necessary support and approval is given Invoices and expense reports for employees must be processed and entered into the accounts payable system at the same time.

Skills:

  • Education and/or experience equal to a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a similar discipline with strong accounting credits are required. CPA or Enrolled Agent preferable; general agricultural knowledge desired.
  • General auditing processes, cost accounting concepts, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Interpreting financial transaction regulations from various government agencies, including those of the state.
  • The blending and coordinating of various elements and their application to certain issues establish the quality of judgment. Uses a lot of discretion within the boundaries or constraints set.
  • Extensive knowledge of budgeting concepts and processes required for developing and evaluating budgetary and financial records, as well as other accounting activities.
  • Financial accounting software experience, including the ability to create and analyze financial reports, as well as the ability to deal with financial databases.
