Job Description

In order to be a rigger, one needs know how to handle heavy rigging, how to adjust a crane’s boom or cable, how to be safe on ladders and scaffolds, how to use chokers, and how to use cutting torches and blueprint reading. A national certification from an organization like NCCER, but not restricted to it, is strongly recommended for all riggers. Using and operating work-related items and equipment safely and efficiently are two important skills that every employee should master. You’ll be expected to work on a building site or at a manufacturing facility.

Qualifications:

  • A rigger’s job is to put up large lifting equipment and secure it using pulleys, ropes, and hoists. During the course of business, does physical work.
  • Riggers must work at elevations ranging from twelve to sixty feet above the ground, which often requires the use of safety equipment and climbing.
  • Drilling, fastening, and testing the operation of head blocks, mule blocks, sheaves, and winches, as well as counterweighted, winched, and dead hanging system components.
  • Among the rigging equipment inspected, tested, and maintained is everything from planks to fiber ropes to wire ropes to chains and swing scaffolding.
  • When it comes to rigging installation, teamwork is more important than individual initiative and judgment.
  • Stabilizing weights to rigging using manual and power equipment is the primary function of a rigging specialist
  • This position requires strict adherence to company policies on on-time arrival, attendance, and absence reporting in order to be successful.
  • By signaling or vocally guiding people responsible for lifting and moving weights, he or she ensures the safety of workers and property.
  • Lifts and lowers all objects, machinery, and/or equipment to and from working platforms, vehicles, streets, floors, and other levels of buildings or vessels in a safe and efficient manner.

Skills:

  • In the previous ten years, five years of full-time experience as a Rigger fulfilling the tasks and obligations listed under Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Under general supervision, moves, laces, and secures large things, such as machinery and structural parts, with the use of rigging equipment and ladders; conducts associated tasks.
